Back to Thailand after ED visa expired but not cancelled

Featured Replies

I stayed in Thailand from April 2019 to January 2020 on my ED visa, applied it through a language school in Bangkok, got 90 day at first then extended it 3 times for 60 days each time, and I left before the third extension expiration date but not calcelled it.

I read in another thread mentioned that you have to cancel your ED visa before leaving Thailand, also came across posts somewhere else about this but I always thought it's about students in universities, because never the language school or the immigration officer told me anything about ED visa cancellation.

I'm thinking about going back to Thailand in May, is there gonna have any problem at the immigration?

Anyone had any experience similar to my situation? Any information related would be much appreciated, Thanks guys.

You say you didn't cancel the ED visa but did you have a re-entry permit?

And what did Thai immigration say to you and do to your passport when you left the country?

No, I didn't have a re-entry permit, because at that time I thought my ED visa will be cancelled automatically once I left the country.

I don't recall the immigration officer said anything in particaular and I just checked my passport, it's a normal departure stamp.

3 - Must get ED Visa Cancellation Letter from current school within 7 days of leaving, take to CW, then exit Thailand.   (Current school says this.)

I've read this post earlier.

I was just wondering is it normal procedure to cancel ED visa before leaving since like 5-10 years ago or there are new changes about ED visa policy recently or his gf has to cancel the ED visa only because she is trying to get another one.
