It is AI (Artificial Intelligence) writing and re-writing these articles they often go off into flowery prose and almost always call the sitting president of the US the former president...in a recent thread on the rules of the road in Thailand the AI got it completely backwards answering like Thailand drives on the right hand side of the road instead of the left..in short take them with a big barrel of salt. -

Day-to-day life in Myanmar
Yes I did, but I returned a couple of weeks ago to sign a contract to rent a small condo at Jomtien Beach as a long-term 'base', since I've now retired from in-class teaching. So I wasn't in Mandalay when the earthquake occurred. However, I have seen the damage etc from friends in Mandalay and at Inle Lake, and so I'm trying to work out a way to return legally to Myanmar to run my charity efforts. Basically, the issue is to get a viable visa, not a short-term tourist visa, and I'm speaking with lawyers in Yangon about that. -

Very well put, agree 100%. In Australia my travel insurance company not only will they not pay out if you do not have a current Aus. Motorcycle licence and ride in Thailand but also won't pay out if you don't have one and travel by motorcycle taxi regardless if he/she has a valid Thai licence -
