Can't have that though, have to respect all cultures, even when they are detrimental, backward and inbred.

Rubbish. You live in UK, you comply with UK laws. Go to Saudi, you comply with their laws or get your hand, foot or knob cut off.

The result of multiculturalism, they will just take their daughters abroad to get married, even more than they do already. While they were at it they should have banned first cousin marriages, that would save a fortune in looking after their demented offspring for life. Well said sir!

Not just first cousins, but first cousins of first cousin marriages. Used to live in an immigrant area in the UK, van came round every morning taking the mentally defective kids to day care, stopped at several houses in the street, they need care their whole lives. This should probably have one of those trendy trigger warnings!

Shouldn't they raise the age of consent to match?

Expand

They already have in practice. Anyway consent means nothing any more in such countries as the UK. Consent is now what the local fem says it is.

Question: if any woman aged 45 could have her way, at what age would she set the age of consent? Answer: at 44.

So British Law is changed to accommodate foreign folk's stuff..

In the words of Basil, "Typical, just typical".....

Expand

You’ve just changed the definition of ‘foreign’.

I know two people who were married at sixteen, both definitely long time British.

This is a very positive change to the law.

The British Royal family are the most notable example of first cousin marriage.

Which in any case isn’t the topic of discussion.

Sorry to interrupt your flow.

Why is it a positive law, have you a problem with British folk being able to marry if they want too. Or are you saying it is positive because of some foreign folk's dodgy habits and forced stuff on their kids.

After all, Enoch was right....:clap2:

British people can still get married, they just have to wait until they are adults.

Expand

Biologically or legally?

Who has the right to say when or at what age someone becomes an adult?

Old enough to work, drive a car, ride a motorbike, have sex, pay tax.............

The ruling is going to cause issues amongst some groups. Daughter gets pregnant before 18, Mum insists her and boyfriend get married. Oh, wait a minute. Can't get married because a bunch of suits in London said so.

But 16 is not old enough (legally) to smoke, gamble, vote, serve on a jury, etc.

As you infer, we all mature biologically and emotionally at different rates, so it's impossible to define and decide what age adulthood begins, but imo the government should settle on an age and standardise matters rather than continue with this decades' long piecemeal arrangement.

The marriage laws have been OK for a very long time in the UK, now they are changing it because of dodgy foreign stuff, and you think it's OK to change UK law to cater for foreign behaviour over the marriage matter....?

Enoch was right.....
