Central Festival food court
one has to eat reasonable decent proper cooked food, not Thai slop but proper Thai or Western food. the problem with Thai food is there's only a handful of dishes that are edible. I'd much prefer a fresh ham & salad sandwich to Thai food or a decent chicken burger and chips. -

Protests Threaten Return of Yingluck Shinawatra to Thailand
The coups have not ushered in policies like the rice storage and pledge scheme or the licence to kill drug marshals with over 3000 resultant deaths of small time dealers and users. In fact, the decriminalisation of marijuana and all the happy shops that opened would not have occurred without a military coup. But you're right in one sense. People seem far more accepting of a coup than the return of the Shinawatra family to political leadership. Thaksin's appeal was never to the city folk but to farmers keen on financial handouts and the medical scheme (which proved to be a success). -

9 Injured in Collision Between Truck and Car in Kanchanaburi
Pictures from responders. An incident on the Kanchanaburi-Thong Pha Phum Road (Highway 323) has left nine people injured, including two eight-year-old children. The crash occurred on the evening of January 12 near the entrance to the Cooperative Settlement in Kanchanaburi Province. Police Lieutenant Songnakorn Khrueasaeng of Thong Pha Phum Police Station received a report of the collision, which caused significant damage and blocked traffic in the area. Authorities quickly responded to the scene. Upon arrival, police and rescue workers found the road littered with debris from the wreckage of a car and a small flatbed truck that had collided head-on. Volunteers from Kanchanaburi Rescue Foundation, along with the Khuntham Hin Dat Association, were already assisting the injured. The nine injured individuals, including four men, three women, and two eight-year-old children, were promptly taken to Thong Pha Phum Hospital. One person sustained critical injuries, losing their left arm in the crash. Medical personnel preserved the severed limb in ice, allowing doctors to attempt surgical attachment and reconstruction. Fortunately, no fatalities were reported. Police are currently investigating the cause of the accident and will take legal action as appropriate. Initial details suggest the car was traveling on the wrong side of the road when the collision occurred. Authorities will review witness statements to establish the full details. -- 2025-01-14 -

He hasn't lived very long in Chiang Mai! because the power in Chiang Mai goes out every time I go there. Which is at least every 3 months. -

Photos of destruction as a result of the incompetent world leader & his party
Appreciate your information. The fact is the situation is not only due to climate change, but also to building in areas that are prone to wildfires. Similar to building next to a shoreline prone to damaging high surf. The insurance companies know this, hence ridiculously high premiums, cancellations or no available coverage.
