Sanook reported on an incident in Rayong that reached the national news on Thai TV.

CCTV from a grocer's opposite the temple of Wat Khot Hin in Nern Phra sub-district of Rayong, eastern Thailand, showed a man milling about.

He then entered the grocer's and got owner Samnao, 60, in a headlock and wrestled her to the floor as she was packing shelves.

He had a knife.

The owner's daughter Taritamon, 33, was alerted to the noise and tried to get the man to stop by hitting him several times with a broom handle.

He had shouted at her mother: "You started it. You started it",

The lady's loud cries also alerted monks from the temple who vaulted a three meter high wall. The assailant gave us as the monks arrived.

One monk called Phra Khwanmuang said a man holding a knife passed them as they arrived saying rudely: "She started it".

The man disappeared leaving Samnao with several nasty injuries to her body and face.

She said she recognised the man from about a year ago.

Her son Phudit Klaoklong posted the CCTV on Facebook saying: "Tell me who did this to my mum".

The son just needs to ask his mum who did it. I’m sure she knows, just doesn’t want to say anything.
