Septoplasty surgery on Samui or near it, any advice ?

Hello,

 

I was advised to post here.

 

I live on Samui and went to Bangkok for check-ups, since I have breathing problems since years.

After visiting 2 hospitals and approaching 2 ENT doctors,

they concluded I need a "septoplasty and turbinate reduction" surgery.

 

After getting the receiving the offer, I asked several questions,

none of these questions they were able to answer.

 

For example, there is listed the following:

 

"General medical expense (medicine, medical equipment and supplies)"

 

This topic is already 60% of the whole cost.

 

After some research, I found out they basically overcharge on everything, which you can't proof.

I don't blame them, there is enough competition to not go there.

 

I don't want to discuss the price they were asking,

because you would probably accuse me of lying, and rightfully so, since it's an insane price.

 

Can you recommend me an ENT specialist on or near Samui, perhaps even a hospital where this procedure can be done?

If possible, I would like not to fly around too much.

You definitely need a second opinoon as to whether the surgery is necessary/likely to help.

 

This is a procedure sometimes  done unnecessarily and when ig is, there is no benefit.

 

If the otocedure is necessary   definitely should not fo it on Samui.

 

You would be best served by voming yo Bangkok where I voukd recommrnd a god ENT.

 

If unwilling then go to Surat Thani and consult an ENT at either (1) the main government hospital in town -- use the after hours clinic  to see a senior ENT and if possible have a Thai speaker with you or (2) Taksin Hospital (private but much less expensive than the Bangkok Hodp chain).

I will probably consult someone in Surat Thani then. If possible, I'd like to avoid Bangkok.

 

Already figured I should not do this surgery on Samui.

 

I will schedule an appointment with "Taksin Hospital" in Surat Thani.

I would definitely get a couple more checks. I was told I needed same after going to three specialist found one that offered alternative. I now use a nasal rinse twice a day and a spray before going to bed, I can now breath through my nose and able to sleep through the night. At 70plus didn't want the surgery.

I got this advice several times now and was hoping it works.

 

I took "Nasonex" for like 3 months but it didn't help much.

 

Since around 28 years I have a "crocked" nose ( an accident in young age ) although I don't mind the unusual aesthetics of the nose I would love to fix the air flow.

 

One of the ENT doctors explained to me very thoroughly with a camera and visual confirmation what was wrong within my nose.

 

So there is definitely something wrong, it doesn't necessarily mean I need a surgery.

Taksin Hospital in Surat Thani is fine and reasonable priced.

 

If you have a car it's fairly easy to get there from Samui. Just take the ferry to Don Sak and follow the road to Surat Thani  about 1 houyrs drive – Taksin Hospital is on the right hand side just after you enter the center of the city; turn inside, you can normally find parking space in the back of the hospital.

Didn't expect to meet the most recognizable guy on Samui here. Saw you several times last year!

 

Do you go yourself to Taskin Hospital as well?

Thanks and no, but my girlfriends has been using Taksin Hospital for HPV-checks, so I've been taking the trip over there a number of times...????
