On April 7th, 2023, the Director of the Legal Group of the Department of Thai Traditional Medicine, Mr. Vorapoj Phujinda, led a team of inspecting officers to the market to investigate complaints of unauthorized marijuana sales, reported Siam Rath. The inspection was conducted in the Bang Kraso sub-district of the Mueang district in Nonthaburi province. Several shops selling marijuana-related products, including marijuana drinks, krathom water, and marijuana flowers and buds, were targeted. After the inspection, three vendors were found to be selling marijuana without a proper license and were subsequently arrested. A significant quantity of marijuana flowers and buds were confiscated. Picture: Siam Rath Mr. Vorapoj emphasized that marijuana has been declared a controlled herb by the Ministry of Public Health, and the flowers and buds are subject to licensing requirements. Those who wish to sell marijuana flowers and buds must obtain proper permission from the Ministry. The arrests made were in response to complaints about the illegal sale of marijuana flowers and buds in the area. It was discovered that some vendors did have the necessary licenses, but others did not. The authorities have stated that they will continue to monitor and take action against illegal marijuana vendors in the area. Picture: Siam Rath The superintendent of Ratthanathibet Police Station, Pol. Col. Thanames Thumet, expressed his gratitude to the team from the Department of Thai Traditional Medicine and Alternative Medicine for their cooperation in the operation. He urged the public to report any illegal activities related to marijuana and other controlled substances to the police. The arrest of the unauthorized marijuana vendors in Nonthaburi is a significant step towards eliminating the illegal sale of marijuana in the area. The authorities hope that this crackdown will deter others from engaging in illegal activities and promote the safe and responsible use of marijuana in compliance with the regulations. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2023-04-08 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m.
