strange so many boats should be at sea in such conditions. was the weather reporting accurate? did they decide to ignore the weather forecast?

hope all will be ok.

Life on the ocean wave is a risky business in Thailand.

No weather warnings issued at all by Thai Met.

 Took everyone by surprise.

It went from being a bit overcast to sudden, very strong winds in the space of about 10 minutes yesterday morning. There may have been some forecast warnings based on what was coming in from the east, but on the ground this was a sudden, sharp squall. All over in about an hour.

Rainy and windy when we arrived on Phuket yesterday, today it's beautiful, well hazy but nice.

Two people have been found dead and at least seven are still missing after over 20 small fishing boats capsized during a freak storm off Thailand’s southern province of Nakhon Si Thammarat.

45 people have been rescued, some of whom are still in hospital. 23 boats have been towed ashore and three others are yet to be salvaged. Another vessel reported engine problems in the rough seas.

The search continues today (Monday) in the seas off Pak Phanang district, with three marine police boats and a helicopter from Air Wing 7 in Surat Thani, said Nakhon Si Thammarat Governor Apinan Puakpong.

Hope you didn't go to Phuket for the fresh air ...

I hope the missing fishermen are found. They lead hard lives. That is not a job I would want to have to endure.
