Sa Kaeo, Thailand - Immigration authorities arrested 120 foreign nationals for illegally entering Sa Kaeo city.

At 6:00 a.m., the individuals were found in a rice field in Village No. 8, Ban Suk Prasert, Muang Phai Subdistrict, Aranyaprathet District, Sa Kaeo Province. A collaborative effort by soldiers, Aran Provincial Police, Subdistrict Police, Tourist Police, and Sa Kaeo Immigration ascertained that the detainees were Cambodian and Bangladeshi workers carrying luggage, such as suitcases.

During the arrest, one Bangladeshi man attempted to escape, resulting in a toe injury. A Cambodian woman with a fever was also identified among the group. All detainees were transported to the Aranyaprathet police station, where emergency responders provided primary care.

The Cambodian detainees revealed their intentions to work in Bangkok, Chachoengsao, Rayong, and Chonburi. They admitted to paying fees of 3,500 baht each for Rayong, Chonburi, and Chachoengsao, and 4,500 baht for Bangkok, reported Siam Rath.

Upon further investigation, authorities identified 59 Cambodian men, 42 Cambodian women (including seven children and seven caretakers), ten Bangladeshi men, and a 19-year-old Thai man named Mr. Sirawit (surname withheld). Sirawit, a resident of Village No. 2, Ban Non Sao Ae, Pan Suek Subdistrict, Aranyaprathet District, Sa Kaeo Province, claimed he was hired for 300 baht to deliver rice to the labor group and keep watch.

Sirawit added that a 25-year-old Thai man named Ed had picked him up on a motorcycle to deliver a box of rice, and it was his first time participating in such an activity. However, officials did not believe his testimony and detained him for further investigation.

The group of illegal immigrants is currently undergoing document verification, with additional actions expected to be taken the following day. This incident highlights the ongoing efforts by Thai authorities to curb illegal immigration and protect national security.

So, none of them ever made it to the Hollywood Pub in Bang Lamung?

Sadly not...

  • 2 weeks later...

A lot of them end up working on building sites where accommodation is provided on site
