Perhaps you could indicate what part of my comment was inaccurate selective quoting? They do ask for an address, that address will be checked and being UK resident is a specific requirement. I got one last year so I know exactly how the process works, I was back in the uk for a month, applied one day, received the card the following day and have the app on my phone. I provided no utility bills, from memory a picture of me holding my passport ID page. I have had no issues with the account. They will send activation codes etc. to the Thai number and transactions work fine. I used my hotel address, showed my passport at the local branch and received a debit card through the post, plus access to my account online. This is a thread about opening new UK bank accounts for non-UK residents, it is not about the easy process of opening a new UK bank account for a UK resident while the applicant is in the UK. at no point did I say I knew how it worked for Thailand residents, I am a Thailand resident, I clearly say I opened it when I was back in the UK.
