Grassley, Comer allege bribery scheme involving Biden and demand documents from FBI

Two top congressional Republicans say they want to know what, if any, information the FBI has about an alleged bribery scheme involving President Joe Biden, while the White House accuses the lawmakers of an "unfounded political attack."

House Oversight and Accountability Chairman James Comer and Sen. Chuck Grassley, of Iowa, say a whistleblower has provided information about the alleged scheme, and they have issued a subpoena to FBI Director Christopher Wray demanding a document that they say contains information about the allegation..

In their letter to Wray and Attorney General Merrick Garland, Grassley and Comer said that it had come to their attention that "the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) possess an unclassified FD-1023 form that describes an alleged criminal scheme involving then-Vice President Biden and a foreign national relating to the exchange of money for policy decisions."

More of the  Republican accusation / confession thing.

Perhaps Comey should get the alleged evidence in hand before making allegations of criminality.

In the letter to the FBI and Justice Department (DOJ) heads, the two Republicans said that based on whistleblower disclosures, they believe the FBI has possession of an unclassified FD-1023 document detailing an “alleged criminal scheme involving then-Vice President Biden and a foreign national relating to the exchange of money for policy decisions.”

The FBI uses FD-1023 forms to document information that the FBI obtains from sources or meetings with sources and can include unverified information.

I made an interesting observation: I can tell if an article is from Fox just by looking at the headline. It's always the anti democrat topics with sensational wording sprinkled with bad punctuation (e.g. space before exclamation or question mark). Try it for yourself, it's a fun exercise ????

Pathetic. Another lame attempt to distract attention from their presidential candidate

More weirdly, the headline is phrased as a question but ends with an exclamation point!

But of course not a peep out of republicans re a pile of evidence already released that Clarence Thomas has been on the take for decades....maybe they should be calling for all remaining evidence to be released and a grand jury convened to indict this embarrassment to the supreme court?

If there is real hard core evidence of a crime by anyone of either party then by all means indict them....so far it appears there are accusations and a lot of fox "news" noise that are designed to fire up the MAGA base and allow them to continue to deflect from dear leaders long list of legal troubles and more indictments likely soon to come..but but but what about Hunter Biden...and  who can forget the years long republican attack on hillary with lock her up cheers led by trump and fox....unlike trump, hillary sat through days of televised  interrogations by hostile republicans and answered question after question..... republicans controlled the DOJ and Attorney General for four years and there were no charges filed against hillary or hunter biden in spite of accusations....could it just possibly be there were no charges filed because they had no solid evidence of a crime and didn't want to look like fools if a Grand Jury refused to indict on little or no real evidence.....accusations are not evidence.

Haha yes that's a fun next level weirdness indeed. I wonder what the profession of the journalists at Fox is ????

I'd be scared if an AI in their current very limited form already could do a better job than me in whatever I'm doing for a living. Doubly so if my employer is on the decline.

Well, they are taking a leave out of the democrat book.

Maybe good old Stormy was doing the rounds.

Pathetic. The GOP is getting desperate because they know full well that if the next election will be between President Biden and trump, the serial loser will lose again. That's why they come up with utter drivel like this, poor darlings.:clap2:

PS. I'm surprised Fox "News" is allowed to be linked to here on AN except in the Pub forum for entertainment purposes considering they've just paid 575 millon dollars for knowingly lying to their viewers.

I do think that the headline sentence wasn't actually written by Fox news .

Fox news made a video and it was probably the thread poster who wrote the headline to the thread .

Biden's too old and too senile to be put in any jail cell. Impeach him, threaten him with massive sentences to get him to cooperate.....yes, but give the bastard bail.

The same doesn't go for Hunter....throw him in the deepest darkest prison and toss away the key.

Cooperatewith investigators on the basis of a so far uncorroborated allegation? As for Hunter Biden, what crime is he under investigation for that carries such a sentence?

Actually it was "Ten percent for the big guy?". A question. And so far the only evidence we have from those emails is that Hunter Biden says when he made an offer to his father to be part of the venture, Joe Biden replied with an "emphatic no"

This isn't action by the G.O.P though and it isn't action by Fox news .

Fox news are reporting on a yet unnamed whistle-blower and until the whistle-blower is named , you cannot say this is caused by the G.O.P .

An independent  person has made the accusation , nothing to do with the G.O.P or Fox news

Such compelling evidence must result in trial.

Actually we have grand jurys who review all evidence and determine if the evidence supports an indictment.  Indictments  are not determined by online posts or media reports.  Paper trails, cancelled checks, first hand testimony collaborated by  hard "receipts"  can be compelling evidence when presented to grand jurys.

Isn't that exactly what you said about those  Suspicious Activity Reports?SARs? You know, the ones that banks submit when they might have reason to suspect that there could be something shady about a transaction? The kind that the Feds investigate farther about 4% of the time? And of that 4% very few are ever subject to criminal prosecution? All we have here is an unverified allegation that the FBI has had for years.
