The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) set its sights on further enhancing Thailand’s reputation as a culinary destination while promoting sustainability. The TAT is now aiming to reel in foodie tourists with the new Amazing Thailand Culinary City programme, aimed at promoting gastronomy tourism. Chattan Kunjara Na Ayudhya, TAT Deputy Governor for Marketing Communications, stated that the Amazing Thailand Culinary City initiative is designed to foster food tourism within the framework of the Bio-Circular-Green Economy concept. Restaurants are encouraged to establish waste management systems for the by-products generated during cooking and adhere to a “zero food waste” policy when preparing meals for consumers. These sustainable practices contribute to the development of environmentally and socially responsible tourism that is conscious of local communities. The programme consists of two main activities. The first is a business matching event for food tourism enterprises, scheduled to take place from May 31 to June 2 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center in Bangkok. This event will feature 30 gastronomy tourism sellers participating in the categories of City Dining Experience, Farm to Table, and Culinary Cooking Activity. Myran Posted May 17, 2023 Posted May 17, 2023 Yeah, because if there's one thing that really gets foodies going, it's sustainability.
Eleftheros Posted May 17, 2023 Posted May 17, 2023 Fried silkworms, anyone? Very good for sustainability, and a taste like cardboard to stimulate those jaded foodie palates.
Bday Prang Posted May 17, 2023 Posted May 17, 2023 That is probably the biggest load of rubbish I have ever read in my life, Any way most thai cooking "establishments" our house included, have a very sustainable waste management system that works at almost 100% efficiency, I'll let you in to the secret, it's called......some dogs
billd766 Posted May 17, 2023 Posted May 17, 2023 Now why would anybody spend hundreds of GBP flying to Thailand, thousands of baht on accommodation, just to eat Thai food, when there are hundreds of Thai restaurants all across the UK and the EU? Imagine saying to your mates that you flew to Thailand just to eat Thai food and how cheap it was, unless you add in all the extra costs. It must be cheap and good because TAT said it was. 1

SmartyMarty Posted May 18, 2023 Posted May 18, 2023 Just remember to avoid any food on a boat (you’ll sink), a bus (you’ll crash), a footpath (you’ll fall into a sewer), a zip line (you’ll fall), a taxi (you’ll fight), a restaurant (you’ll pay more than a local) and you should be ok. 1
