Thailand has a lot border trade with people on the other side...and these aren't the richest of the society.

The job of the government is to come along with the neighbors....not warmongering and being terrorists. No matter if the neighbor has a government they don't like.

Lao is communist dictatorship, Cambodia is not really democratic in Malaysia is the Sharia. Biggest trading partner is China a communist dictatorship, another big partner is USA, the worst warmonger and state terrorist on the planet. Should Thailand be hostile to all of them? Or rather be neutral and do business?

China has not been communist since Deng Xiopeng. Also it is not a dictatorship ,it has a one party system that keeps the wealth from buying conrol . An that what pisses off the yanks.

The only thing shown by urging an accomodating aspect to egregious murderous regimes is ???? damage.

You consider not being in favour with the clique of genocidal kleptomaniacs who control Burma, (or at least those parts of it which are within 300 metres of a metalled road, and then only in daylight) as being "damage done"?

What will be interesting to see is if the military head honchos here continue to cuddle up to their soulmates in Burma!

Not a dictatorship?  Who are you trying to kid?  So people in China are allowed to protest and show disent are they? They can change the government can they?

Keeps the wealth in the hands of the chosen few more like.

Thailand’s likely new government was ‘pro West’ and would help the ‘terrorists’ operating in his country

It's kind of sad what this suggests the "pro East" stance must be.

Economically it is no longer communist, but it is still politically communist.

From wiki:

"A dictatorship is a form of government controlled by a dictator. Politics in a dictatorship are controlled by the dictator and they are facilitated through an inner circle of elites that includes advisers, generals, and other high-ranking officials. The dictator maintains control by influencing and appeasing the inner circle and repressing any opposition, which may include rival political parties, armed resistance, or disloyal members of the dictator's inner circle."

China is a dictatorship.

It's what can happen when the 'invaders', evil colonialists, pull out and leave the country to govern itself.

Yes it’s strange how the colonised countries appear to be the most stable and affluent throughout the world especially those who maintain some connection with their “evil” colonists.

And the countries that demanded their control be returned to complete independence are mostly basket cases.

must just be a coincidence ?!!!

China is a dictatorship.

Perfect description of Thailand as for decades it has conducted military operations against the Muslim Kingdom of Patani to subjugate, absorb and deculturize and delanguage the indigenious peaceful Malay Muslims in that caliphate.

The same Thailand that terrorizes its own citizens into subjugation of their rightful freedoms.

The countries name is Burma not Myanmar
