Over Two Million Visitors Have Visited Surat Thani in Thailand This Year So Far

Surat Thani province has seen a surge in international arrivals this year, surpassing 1.5 million visitors in a 155% increase compared to the same period the previous year.

 

On Monday (29 May), Surat Thani Governor Witchawut Jinto announced that a total of 2.05 million visitors have arrived in the province since January, with foreign visitors accounting for the majority of this influx. The substantial rise in international arrivals has had a significant impact on the provincial economy. Foreign visitors alone have generated an impressive revenue of 35.9 billion baht, reflecting a remarkable 159% year-on-year increase.

 

Witchawut highlighted that these visitors primarily spend their money on various products and services such as accommodation, dining, souvenirs, entertainment activities, and transportation, thus contributing to the local economy and tourism industry.

So hard getting accurate #s at times.  2 conflicting 'Wiki' #s, and I find hard to believe either IMHO.   One too high (no source listed), and the other, for 2019, seems low.

... 2019 - 1,208,882 (Source: Thailand's Department of Civil Aviation & C9 Hotel Works).  Though might be accurate, since just air arrivals on 14,325 flights.
