snoop1130 Posted June 5, 2023 Posted June 5, 2023 A group of Pattaya authorities inspected a homeless community near the Bali Hai Pier on June 2nd. The visit was in response to the public’s concerns regarding the presence of homeless individuals, which raised safety concerns for both local residents and tourists. Some tourists had reportedly demanded for authorities to remove the homeless entirely, saying it made Pattaya look bad, but city officials said the issue wasn’t as simple as this and such a move would violate human rights. Upon inspection, authorities found that some individuals were actually employed but sought temporary shelter during their leisure time when they had no work. Preliminary discussions were held to better understand their situation. However, due to their human rights, authorities said they were unable to forcibly relocate them to different locations. So a tourist, who are here for a weak or so, stops their 'touristy' activities and go to the city's municipality to lodge a complaint regarding the homeless eye sore, what a load of nonsensical rubbish i have ever read. 2 5

How about seeing if there is a way to assist them in finding more suitable accommodation at their own free will. Human rights unaffected then. 1

Possibly a Thai tourist over for the weekend in Koh Larn. Shame induced. Why this sudden respect for human rights? 2

swissie Posted June 6, 2023 Posted June 6, 2023 Used to go to "Bush Mountain" quite a lot. Thais with "lodging problems" stay there. An open minded Farang, bringing along a sixpack is welcome. Many a good afternoon chat comes to mind. Mostly good Thai folks, just not benefitting much from the Tourist Circus. Of course, there can be had more than "friendly chats" on Bush Mountain. Considering the fact, that Hostess Services have far outpaced the national inflation rate, "Bush Mountain" might come in handy for "frugal" Pattaya visitors, seeking a relaxed afternoon athmosphere, combined with the possibility of further reasonably priced entertainment. 1

Not sure if they move on, or are moved on, but then one day no people, no junk. Can't imagine it is cool under all that concrete.....

Good on them for finding shelter but when they turn it into a rubbish dump can look pretty bad.
