Three Foreigners Arrested for Overstay in Surat Thani

In an operation led by Police Colonel Prapan Saksuk, Surat Thani's Immigration Police, in collaboration with Deputy Police Colonel Panupak Jitprayoon, Deputy Police Lieutenant Colonel Supphak Phankoson, and several other officials, targeted and investigated foreign nationals suspected of overstaying and unlawfully residing in the kingdom.

 

The operation focused on the popular tourist destinations of Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, and Koh Tao, reported Siam Rath.

 

As the operation continued across all three islands, authorities captured several foreign nationals illegally residing in the kingdom, with expired visas or without any legal permissions.

 

In total, three foreigners were apprehended for overstaying their visas, including:

 

Mr. Martin E., a 48-year-old German national, overstayed by 34 days and resided in Koh Samui, Surat Thani.
Ms. Basak K., a 37-year-old Turkish national, overstayed by 36 days and resided in Koh Phangan, Surat Thani.
Mr. Matthias S., a 46-year-old German national, overstayed by 58 days and resided in Koh Tao, Koh Phangan, Surat Thani.

These individuals were detained and handed over to the investigating officers of their respective areas for legal proceedings. After case processing, they will be deported to their home countries and blacklisted from entering the kingdom again.

 

The Surat Thani Immigration Police are using this occasion to raise public awareness among tourists about the immigration laws and procedures to legally stay in the kingdom.

This initiative not only aims to prevent unlawful activities by tourists but also enhances the confidence in security measures taken for the tourists in the areas of Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, and Koh Tao.

 

Citizens who witness or know of any illegal activities by foreigners can report to the hotline numbers 1178 or 077-273217 for further investigation and action.

Whilst obviously these three people did overstay and commit a crime, why do they insist on parading them in front of the camera?

The woman sitting down with 4 officers behind her is just absurd and a waste of time!

If it was a drugs bust and they showed the perp with the all drugs etc, then that would be different!

moved to ????????  so you can stay upto 3 years on tourist visas and renewal on any island local immigration office,  so easy Thailand finished after coup d'etat 2014 mob seized power dismantled the country

Well if you read the article, it's to raise public awareness, overstay and you are plastered all over the news, name, age, gender, country of origin, and any other sordid details they have on you. It is to discourage overstay init.
