Good for her, but would others get preferential treatment who were unable to attend immigration to extend their visa/extension due to medical conditions?

The law says if you're widowed from a Thai national, without dependent children, and you cant find another B400,000 to put into a bank account, for a retirement visa, you're going home alone after that marriage visa expires.

 Nice and humane.

Just goes to show that all the b itching and crying about how Immigration treat farangs is just b itching  and crying over nothing.

In over 20 years of dealing with Imm. I've never had any problems, ok maybe missed a piece of paper here and there and had to sort it out, but it was never escalated into a problem by imm.

You must live a charmed life? ????

You have obviously been a very luck individual indeed. However there are many thousands that have not, as we see on ANF almost on a daily basis?

Recognizing the woman's medical condition and the need to respect her human rights, the Satun Immigration Bureau granted her permission to remain in Thailand for medical treatment by extending her visa until the necessary procedures were completed.

Such compassion.

Yes, you do hear a few groans and moans from the perpetually discontented on ANF. But you rarely hear from the many thousands of foreigners who, like @Artisi and myself never have any reason to moan about the service they receive from Immigration. We tend to just get on with our lives.

Any given experience with Immigration will be determined by the district, the office, the time, the day, the mood of office, the mood of an individual IO..... in other words, immigration law and its application are not uniform across Thailand at any given time or place.

Why is this news? It should be a standard part of every working day.

Minds like little children with no ability to see, develop big picture policies and actions.

It' good news as a counterweight to all the gripping and moaning that we are so often subjected to on ANF. A very refreshing change and worthy of comment.

And more so on the mood of the applicant.

Maybe if you go to the Press or post on social media.

That's one good reason why you should get some life insurance on the lady in your life @chalawaan

If one is married here and uses the 400k in the bank method, one only needs 33.33k per month income to switch to a retirement extension using the combination method. So what's the problem?

Surely nobody lives on less than 33k per month here.
