Popular Post mushroomdave Posted July 18, 2023 Popular Post Posted July 18, 2023 Linked story added: "It was also unclear how long he had been overstayed or how he was caught and arrested". It's not "unclear" how he was caught and arrested.........normally when you leave, they run your name...(duh!)...it's not rocket science! He actually did all the work for them!! 3 1 1
Popular Post Scouse123 Posted July 18, 2023 Popular Post Posted July 18, 2023 It says international gate, so that takes away one posters question was it an internal flight. It was a waste of time going to the enclosed link as no further information of any merit is available there. Obviously must be more than meets the eye, it's a long time since I was in Phuket, but if they have allowed him to get all the way to the international departure gate, and not stopped him at immigration, have they discovered something more serious? 2 3 1

Popular Post Skipalongcassidy Posted July 18, 2023 Popular Post Posted July 18, 2023 There's allot more than an overstay violation here... 3

RandolphGB Posted July 19, 2023 Posted July 19, 2023 Quote An Immigration Officer at the Phuket International Airport told the Phuket Express So when the Immigration Officer 'told' them, they didn't think to ask the suspect's name, age or how long he had overstayed for. Stick to running bars in Sin City. 1 1
Skeptic7 Posted July 19, 2023 Posted July 19, 2023 Not much info. How long was the overstay? This is usually revealed immediately. Regardless 1

Maybe the departure lounge is more secure and enclosed than being able to run around the airport and out the door ?

Perhaps he paid for his overstay when he went to immigration counter for exit stamp. It seems they had changed mind and came after him to the gate.

Smokey and the Bandit Posted July 19, 2023 Posted July 19, 2023 So if it was just an overstay, he could pay the fine and get on his flight? Obviously something else going on here? 2
