UFOs: Is the government hiding something?

Our part of the galaxy is about 5 billion years old. Our section of the Universe, with Andromeda and other nearby galaxies, is of similar age. The Earth is about 4.5 billion years old. It took that long for us to even develop powered aircraft (120 years ago). Any alien life near enough to us so that we might be of interest would be about our age,  and assuming the development of living, and eventually sentient beings, is on a similar scale they'd be as advanced as us. The top speed we can muster is about 20,000mph, so just to get to the nearest star would take 220,000 years. That long ago we hadn't even evolved into Neanderthals yet, much less space travelers. Unless nearby civilizations advanced at a much more rapid rate, they haven't been here.

On a trip  of that length, aliens would likely make sure they had decent pilots, too. In this world, there are several million airplane flights be year (commercial). Maybe one or two crash nowadays. Even Earthling commercial pilots are pretty good, as is the equipment. Aliens would be even less likely to crash, so unlikely any bodies would be found.

If an advanced civilization from one of the older galaxies was out and about, they would have 200,000,000,000 galaxies to choose from, and each galaxy has around 1,000,000,000,000 stars. The odds of them choosing to visit our solar system are greater than me picking out one grain of sand on one beach on Earth and asking you to guess which one.

The sun is one of maybe 2 x 10^23 stars in our universe. Odds are slim any aliens who choose us.

Reminds me of this great song ... Must watch to the end.

I think you are forgetting who controls the news and flow of information.

Using your thought, the 'people in control of the news', tell people a plane was flown into the Pentagon, with some of the most protected airspace in USA, with more than a few active CCTVs going 24/7, and not one photo or vid of the event.

Let that one sink in.  Take as much time as you need.

Freedom of the Press / information ... that's funny.

There are lots of videos but the plane is moving so fast and they are not high speed cameras, low quality security stuff

The truth is out there

In June 2023, United States Air Force (USAF) officer and former intelligence official David Grusch publicly claimed that unnamed officials told him that the U.S. federal government maintains a highly secretive UFO recovery program and is in possession of "non-human" spacecraft and "dead pilots". In 2022, Grusch filed a whistleblower complaint with the U.S. Office of the Intelligence Community Inspector General (ICIG) to support his plan to share classified information with the U.S. Senate Select Committee on Intelligence. He also filed a complaint alleging retaliation by his superiors over a similar complaint he made in 2021.

This seems a lot like a "I heard in a bar..." story.

Still waiting for actual evidence of these extra-terrestrials.

It's you who needs the history lesson. He's correct. Most of the stones weighed under 10 tons. The largest were around 80 to 90 tons and there weren't many of those.

Never mentioned the pyramids, there are obelisks that weigh over 500 tons, one uncompleted was over 1000 tons.So get your facts right.

The fact that they held a Congressional Hearing means it's something. Grusch's background is spotless, not your typical probed story. Not exactly the background and credentials of a crackpot.

Could be legit or could be a disinformation scheme to hide our own classified new tech flying capabilities.

Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania,[2] Grusch was a decorated combat officer within the USAF during the War in Afghanistan and is a veteran of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) and the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO).[3] From 2019 to 2021, he was the representative of the NRO to the Unidentified Aerial Phenomena Task Force.[4] From late 2021 to July 2022, he was the co-lead for UAP analysis at the NGA and its representative to the task force.[4] He assisted in drafting the National Defense Authorization Act of 2023,[5] which includes provisions for reporting of UFOs, including whistleblower protections and exemptions to non-disclosure orders and agreements.[6][7][8] Congressional interest in UFO sightings immediately prior to Grusch's public claims surrounded questions about the four objects that the Air Force shot down in February 2023.[9]

There is nothing to support his claim of hearing something from someone.  If there was anything to his claims there would be substantiating evidence, or at the very least other people to support the claims.

I just have a curious nature. I look for the upside to anyone making these kind of claims.  He had retired fighter pilots testifying to what they witnessed firsthand.

To simply say it's all BS is naive imo, there's usually a reason if you keep looking.

The Hill produces a nutjob opinion piece. The simple reality is that aliens are not responsible for UFO's.

The decades-long saga of unidentified flying objects (UFOs) is barreling headlong toward one of two stunning conclusions.

Either the U.S. government has mounted an extraordinary, decades-long coverup of UFO retrieval and reverse-engineering activities, or elements of the defense and intelligence establishment are engaging in a staggeringly brazen psychological disinformation campaign.

Importantly, a third explanation for recent events — that dozens of high-level, highly-cleared officials have come to believe enduring UFO myths, rumors and speculation as fact — appears increasingly unlikely.

I'll believe Neil Degrasse Tyson over Faux news, or for that matter, any politician, on whether the UFOs are alien or not. Tyson says that with billions of high quality cameras essentially everywhere, if aliens were here there'd be lots of high quality video, not the blurry tic-tac shaped blobs that are available.

Maybe the aliens look like blurry tic-tac shaped blobs!
