Rescue workers remove the body of 61-year-old Siliya Rothert (inset) from the murder scene on Friday morning last in the Schoneberg area of Berlin. The alarm was raised by workers at a nearby hotel at 12.45 am. Police found the body of the Thai woman in a lane off Fuggerstrasse alongside her bloodied bag (inset) and a broken glass bottle, which is understood to have been the murder weapon. Ms Siliya was a well-loved member of the Thai German community in the city.

Police in Berlin are actively tracking the murderer of a Thai woman whose body was found in the Schoneberg area of the city in the early hours of Friday morning. She had been fatally attacked with a glass bottle and left in a pool of her own blood.

The attack on Ms Siliya Rothert is being treated by police as a murder, probably with a personal motive given its vicious and frenzied nature. Officers have ruled out a botched robbery. They are trying to track down the killer who fled the scene before the alarm was raised by workers at a nearby hotel in the Schoneberg area of Berlin after passers-by stumbled on the body.

A 61-year-old Thai woman who had made a life for herself in Germany was cut down in the early hours of Friday morning in a brutally violent murder which is being investigated by a Berlin Police murder squad who are pursuing her attacker, seen taking flight from the scene. Ms Siliya Rothert is understood to have died after being ‘glassed’ with a bottle by her crazed attacker in a particularly brutal and violent assault. The incident has left the vibrant Thai community in the German capital in a state of shock and fear.

Strange. Are they implying this was some kind of "Anti Thai" attack? Do they have any evidence for that?

Seeing as her belongings weren't taken this seems like a personal attack, raising the distinct possibility that the killer was also a part of the Thai community. Statistically, most murders are done by people the victim knows.

Local police officers are hunting for a suspect who murdered a 61 year old Thai restaurant owner on Kantstrasse Road in the city of Berlin in Germany.

German police officers reported on Friday, August 18, that they discovered the dead body of a Thai woman, 61 year old Siliya Saiwongpanya on a footpath near Fuggerstrasse Road in the Schoeneberg neighbourhood of Berlin.

According to a German media report, Siliya suffered a severe neck wound, which caused her death. Her blood-stained handbag was found on the floor. Nearby the body officers discovered a broken glass bottle which they believe was used to murder Siliya.

Based on initial observations, law enforcement officials speculate that the motivation behind the murder might be rooted in personal conflict as none of Siliya’s possessions appear to have been stolen. Local media reported that the suspect quickly fled the scene and now remains at large.

RIP old girl.

cops will get the killer.

The German Police should call the Thai RTP to solve the murder.
200% guaranteed that the Thai RTP would find within 24 hours a Palestininan who confessed the murder.

Half the world would have issued warnings to their citizens about Thailand.  What a mentality.

No description of the murderer?

As far as I understood there were no actual witnesses of the murdering.

It happened close to her apartment about 3 km from her restaurant.

The murderer might have ambushed her.

There is still no trace of the murderer.

Within the Thai community in Berlin all the things happen that you find here. Money lending/loan sharks, illegal gambling, losing a fortune at the legal Casino and of course all things "love".

The warning from the Embassy might well indicate that Thais should look around/save their back. The murderer might be from the community.

Based on all the happenings I have seen and witnessed here in Thailand, the killer must be from the Thai Community in Berlin. Some bonehead must have seen her been a well to do Woman and decided to murder her out of jealousy, envy, resentment and some kind of a love affairs thing. My sincere condolences to her family and friends.

To be fair this is a discussion forum, would you suggest that nothing is discussed until it is over?

It hasn't yet been ruled out as racist.

The murderer is her Turkish ex boyfriend and business partner. She lived in constant fear of him after she wanted to separate. The Ex didn't want to accept the separation and insisted on another meeting.

She was accompanied by another man who stood in the distance and could not intervene in time.

The Ex has likely fled to Turkey.

(source is a Berlin tabloid)

Thank you KhunB .... you are a real trooper.

Oh look, it was a jilted lover and business partner. Imagine that, it was a personal attack and the murderer was known to the victim as I suggested was most likely in my post above.

All the race baiters will be most disappointed. No pot to stir this time...

When I posted that the perp wasn't known. That was a fact.

You sound really chuffed with yourself.
