Food delivery rider’s water incident leads to physical assault

A food delivery rider physically assaulted a Thai woman on a road in the northern province of Chaing Rai after she reportedly complained he splashed her with water.

 

A video of when the Grab food delivery rider physically attacked the 40 year old Thai woman, Chanadda Sae-ue, went viral after being shared on Facebook on Friday, August 18. The rider was seen pulling Chanadda’s hair and then slamming her to the ground. A passerby later stepped in to intervene and urged the rider to stop his assault.

 

The incident reportedly occurred on Thursday, August 17 at 7.40am. From the video, the delivery rider’s motorcycle lacked a registration plate, constituting an additional violation of the law beyond the physical assault itself.

 

The video was recorded by Chanadda’s 11 year old son. The rider pointed accusingly into the camera and said…

 

“You swore at me first! Why do you have to do that, huh? Let’s check my dashcam. You insulted me first!”

 

Chanadda vehemently denied the rider’s accusation.

Thai law makes it criminal for a driver to ride thru a puddle and splash a person... so there's that.

Imagine being such a little b**** that your ego gets all bruised up just because a random woman yelled "Hey!" at you. Unfortunately he's not wrong about not being afraid of police - 500 baht and a wai, and off he goes to do the same thing all over again to another person. I'm not of the "you should never raise a hand on a woman" camp - but this was clearly a case of picking on someone smaller than him because he could - the guys nearby should've kicked his ass, not just stop him from assaulting her.

So the cops aren't interested in bringing a legal charge against him nuff said. Not condoning the grab driver, but were the lady and her son wearing helmets, none seen in the vid.

Yes, the police are mostly ineffective in cases like this. 

 

BUT there are also civil courts, where she could file a claim for monetary compensation, and because there is a video and witnesses, she would most likely win, which will teach him a lesson, hopefully.
