You might want to do a little research.  Paying someone for sexual service is not illegal in Thailand, under most circumstances.  If it was, most of the male Thai population and virtually every foreigner in Pattaya would be in jail!

You might want to read the 1996 suppression of prostitution act, even customers as well as pimps can be prosecuted, the lack of arrests does not change the law.

Part of it

Section 5. Any person who, for the purpose of prostitution, solicits, induces, introduces herself or himself to, follows or importunes a person in a street, public place or any other place in an open and shameless manner or causes nuisance to the public, shall be liable to a fine not exceeding one thousand Baht.

Section 6. Any person who associates with another person in a prostitution establishment for the purpose of prostitution of himself or herself or another person shall be liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding one month or to a fine not exceeding one thousand Baht or to both.

If the offence under paragraph one is committed on account of compulsion or under an influence which cannot be avoided or resisted, the offender is not guilty.

Section 7. Any person who advertises or agrees to advertise, induces or introduces by means of documents or printed matters, or by any means makes known to the public in a manner apparently indicative of importunity or solicitation for the prostitution of himself ,herself or another person shall be liable to imprisonment for a term of six months to two years or to a fine of ten thousand to forty thousand Baht or to both.

Section 8. Any person who, in order to gratify his or hersexual desire or that ofanother person, has sexual intercourse or acts otherwise against a person over fifteen but not over eighteen years of age in a prostitution establishment, with or without his or her consent, shall be liable to imprisonment for a term of one to three years and to a fine of twenty thousand to sixty thousand Baht.

If the offence under paragraph one is committed in relation to a child not over fifteen years of age, the offender shall be liable to imprisonment for a term of two to six years and to a fine of forty thousand to one hundred twenty thousand Baht.

If the act under paragraph one is committed in relation to one's own spouse, and not to gratify the sexual desire of another person, the offender is not guilty.

Section 9. Any person who procures, seduces or takes away any person for the prostitution of such person, even with her or his consent and irrespective of whether the various acts which constitute an offence are committed within or outside the Kingdom, shall be liable to imprisonment for a term of one to ten years and to a fine of twenty thousand to two hundred thousand Baht.

That actually confirms what he wrote. What you have posted, refers to soliciting, brothels, advertising, coercion and underage…

Most people, including regular users of bargirls, have never even heard of "the 1996 suppression of prostitution act" . The few amongst us with any  knowledge of this legislation, will have their own, probably private, reasons for being so well informed, and in my opinion are to be treated with deep suspicion and kept at arms length.

The only people who would feel the need to educate themselves regarding these laws are those who have already broken or are considering breaking them, and are wondering what penalties they might be subject to, if caught and convicted.

Or those concerned with respecting Thai law and Thai women, nice try though.

Oh I think most people, who are genuinely concerned about  respecting  Thai law and indeed Thai women manage perfectly well without any specialist legal knowledge of the laws relating to underage prostitution. or indeed the penalties for breaking them.

Are you a bar and prostitute fan by any chance?

Why so negative about Thai prostitutes? Did you have a bad experience with one?

I went with many and for the most part they were very nice people and some I became friends with. Certainly nicer than vicious western women that hate men, that so many of us unfortunately know.

Of course I'm not referring to drugged up skank street walkers in some sad western city.

I watched this video lol, at 7 minutes it said ''it appears to be a foreigner with a child, nobody even looks around'' in walking street Pattaya, was just clearly a 145CM girl like the many that are there lol.

So like this entire documentary, to end with just 1 raid, like happens in any country, any year. I am more concerned about the Thai stats that say 1/3 Thai kids suffer (emotional) abuse.

I once had a conversation with some Brit guy in a Pattaya bar and he said he was disgusted that old farangs were with young girls. I had to inform him that they were the guy's children. Silly man hadn't even considered that and was jumping to conclusions that were so very, very wrong.

Nothing you listed says paying for sex is illegal.

Being blatant and obvious appears to be the crimes.

Does not need to be, the clue is on the title of the 1996 act from Cambridge dictionary

prostitution

Correct.  Many aspects of prostitution (underage, soliciting, running a brothel) are illegal here, but not that actual act of paying for sexual services.

OK, it's not the definition of a word that's in question, it's your understanding of a sentence that's the problem, your reading comprehension skills appear to be lacking (Australian by any chance?).

Child sex is a disgusting crime that is commited all over Thailand.

No matter from where the culprits are from, they should be jailed for life if prooved fully guilty.

Instead of making trouble for the decent foreigners on immigration absurdities, the BiB should more focus on such offenses committed by people who seem to pay their way through.

Its not western bar owners supplying underage girls in bars they dont Employ them its the Owner/Mamasan does the recruiting. Always Thai.

So to get you right, all the fat or bodybuilt tatooed chaps lurking in Pattaya are there plainly to visit temples and beaches ?

It's just a open prostitution dump and all those giving their money to the sex industry even for the legal aged women,  encourage the trade with other despicable consequences.

What country are you talking about? Do they make laws in Thailand based on English language definitions?

So what? If you don't like it don't go there to be offended.

Is prostitution banned in your home country?

Wrong. The thread is about underage girls in bars.

Try reading it before making a fool of yourself

Did you read the paragraph at the start of the subforum? Do you comprehend that this sub forum is about THAILAND, not other countries?

I'll quote it just for you- my bolding.

Thailand is legendary for its entertainment, both traditional and modern. Discuss night life, restaurants, bars, music, movies, concerts, expat life, fun, or just a chat about anything not covered by other sub-forums. (No Politics).

You might want to be careful when writing such as your second sentence.

BTW, there is a whole section of the forum just for other countries, if you didn't know.

Haven't seen this many Butthurt Brits in one place since 1776! Yes, there are tons of lecherous gross Brits, a history of conquering nations and raping the native women. Not a surprise at all!

Sure it's only Brits in Pattaya, 55555555555555.

Did you miss all those Indians trying to pick up girls along Beach Road at night?
