Biden campaign won't 'focus on Donald Trump's legal problems,' co-chair says

Joe Biden’s re-election campaign isn’t going to focus on Donald Trump's legal woes, co-chair Cedric Richmond said Sunday, as the president continues to refrain from talking directly about his predecessor's four criminal indictments.

“The president has said from the beginning that he wanted an independent Justice Department, and we have to do just that,” Richmond, who previously was a top aide to Biden in the White House, said in an interview on ABC News' "This Week." “So we’re not going to comment. We’re not going to focus on Donald Trump’s legal problems.”

Biden has taken shots at Trump, the front-runner for the GOP presidential nomination, over a number of issues in recent months, as well as his Make America Great Again agenda, but he has stayed mum on discussing the four separate indictments against Trump that have plagued the early race for the White House.

As Trump traveled to the Fulton County Jail in Atlanta on Thursday night to surrender on charges related to his attempts to overturn the 2020 election results in Georgia, a battleground state, Biden posted a link to donate to his campaign on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter. “Apropos of nothing, I think today’s a great day to give to my campaign,” he wrote in the post.

Richmond insisted that Biden wasn't referring to the indictment: “No, those emails go out — you get five and six of them a day — so I wouldn’t read much into that.”

In separate cases, special counsel Jack Smith indicted Trump this month on federal charges that he conspired to defraud the country and tried to prevent the peaceful transfer of presidential power to Biden, and he indicted him in June over his alleged mishandling of classified documents after he left office.

The legal attack on biden's only real opponent in next years election, and thus not allowing him a fair shake at the election(just like last time with the 51 experts in disinformation) is woeful.

If the stakes weren't so high it would be amusing seeing what appears to be the most corrupt president ever attacking the least corrupt one to protect "democracy"  !!

Worth noting the legal attack on bidens opponent has worked perfectly. 5 of the 6 top threads are about Trump and bidens corruption and the coverup(an even worse crime) doesnt get a look in. A perfect distraction. Fascinating.

Here's a hint: if you don't want to go to trials, don't commit any crimes.

Why didn't Trump return the classified documents when the subpoena was handed to him?

If the Trump issues were dealt with the same as other people's issues there would be no problem. The problem here is hypocrisy. Democrat election deniers accusing Trump of denying election results. Classified document and unsafe storer of stolen documents accusing others of having stolen classified documents. Interferers of elections by misinforming the voters using your top 51 players accusing others of interfering with elections. At every stage, on every accusation, biden has done WORSE than Trump, yet it keeps getting downplayed and covered up. Only democrats trust the DOJ.

There's a ton of unequivocal evidence to convict Trump in the Mar-a-Lago case. There is nothing like that that has so far been revealed in the case of Joe Biden. No good evidence at all.

Reality Winner was rotting in jail for taking 1 document. Trump took hundreds.

Why didn't he give them back?

Both you and I know in our hearts that is just not true. That email reads nothing like the rest. Let's stop playing games shall we.

Therd are no rumors in that email that were not widely known at the time.

But, can you tell me what Jared Kushner did to earn $3 billion from the Saudis? Why your lack of interest in that subject?

Really?if anyone else had done what trump has done they would be buried in a supermax prison locked away for 23 hours a day and not allowed to speak to anyone,or worse indeed!!

Well done!

Thanks!

They problem is you are stating facts and a "fact" to a Mega MAGA brainwashed cult follower is considered a four letter word and will be ignored or declared a hoax!

Unfortunately mostly true but I suspect it’s getting through more than the Republicans care to admit.right now it seems they are terrified of their constituents

I find it totally fascinating and somewhat worrying that the likely top 2 candidates for one of the most powerful positions in the western world are:

1.) A senile old man that should have passed on the baton a decade ago.

2.) A total fraudster (who would also be well into his 80s by the end of term) who, to anyone with half an ounce of common sense, is clearly in it for nothing other than himself.

Neither should be in the role following the next election.

Another amateur gerontologist has given us his diagnosis.
