"He'll be ........."etc etc etc".

All of these forecasts are probably from the people who said "There's no way that Thaksin will ever come back to Thailand unless he has a Royal Pardon first".

But the truth of the matter is that he is here in Thailand (Unless it's a Doppelganger) - sorry to spoil your theories,

but that's all they are.

By the way, I'm neither a Thaksin or Government supporter, merely making a comment on the way this post is progressing.

I agree. The haters have been chasing their tails for the past few months whilst spouting their medical knowledge.

I hope Mr T goes back to jail for the short term then comes out and says that he forgives those who stitched him up on charges brought before a judiciary who were compliant to the wishes of the illegal military junta.

That scenario would have the hate mob's heads exploding.

Does he have to provide reasons why he should get the royal clemency? Good behavior - fail. He is really sorry for his crimes - fail. He compensated the damaged parties - fail. He

  • I guess he's had enough of hospital food!

  • He will leave hospital for freedom in a wheelchair. The week after he will be secretly filmed playing badminton.

A done deal even before he dared to set foot back in Thailand.

Come back, fanfare, show his face in court, feign sickness, go to hospital, plead health issues, get a doctors note, private room, application for a pardon on medical grounds.

Back at the Thaksin residence in less than a month.

Evidence of "feign (sic) sickness" please. So the doctors are liars eh?

Probably perfect for the way Thailand is shaping up. More weed shops than 7-11s. The drugs economy is just getting rolling.

And Anutin is making sure of that!

Semantics.

It is a partial (87.5%) pardon.

A commutation.

Either way, end result is the same.

He very shortly will be a free man.

BTW - receiving a full pardon is not the same as being exonerated, in fact, admitting guilt and showing remorse are common prerequisites for receiving a pardon.

That was indeed semantic.

I would hazard a guess that even the doctors in Thailand will be told what to say in a high profile case like this! After all, Mr T has had his sentence reduced from 10 years to 8 years to 1 year all in a matter of days, despite all the rules and regulations saying that he must serve a minimum of x years before he can even be considered for any kind of pardon or reduction of sentence! The system stinks!

Name a Thai PM that doesn’t.

If you can’t, then what’s your point?
