A group of seven Go-Go dancing “ladies” of the second dimension, or katueys, involved in an illegal card-playing gang were having a game of Rummy in a Pattaya apartment when police swooped down on them, only to find one had some Yah Ice (methamphetamine). On searching further in the same building, the police discovered yet another gang of 4 katueys and a woman, surrounded by drug taking paraphernalia. All were arrested and tested positive. Pattaya Police will follow up the case to arrest the drug dealer.

On 12 July, at 8 pm, Pol.Lt.Col. Chaigrit Thong-In, the Pattaya Police Investigation Officer, responding to a tip off, launched a raid on a room on the 2nd floor of President Apartment, Soi Buakhao. Arriving at the apartment, owned by Mr. Thaworn Thongdueng (27), the police team found gang of 7 katueys playing an illegal game of Rummy. On searching the card-players, one of them, Mr. Warakun Hemthanon (32), was found to have a gram of Yah Ice in a bag, along with drug taking paraphernalia, a deck of cards and 20 Baht in cash; all of which was kept as evidence. The katueys work as Go-Go dancers in one of the bars on Walking street and generally get together to play cards in their free time. They were all arrested.

Thinking it likely that there might be more druggies in the same building, the police searched further and found another group in Room 302: a Thai woman and four katueys also taking Yah Ice. One of them, Mr. Sap Mahaphan (30) from Banglamung had 3 bags of Yah Ice, weighing 3.6 grams and three sets of drug taking kit, which was kept as evidence. The owner of the room, Mr. Suphachai Naksang (24), confessed that he effectively ran a Yah Ice taking parlour where a group of Katuey friends and bar girls frequently got together to smoke the illegal substance.

Apparently, they generally pooled their cash to buy the drug from a dealer on Walking Street. The police took them all back to the station for a drugs test. All of them tested positive and were charged, accordingly. The police are following up the case and hope to arrest the drug dealer in the near future.
