They had his passport and they reported the death to the Australian embassy...most likely he was Australian.   You always get it wrong.

    Sad story—but 82 and still flying—impressive.  RIP.

Let me take a guess, blind guess. Arrivals area … he could have just arrived … oh look, there’s his passport … do you think he’s really Australian with a name like that? Pshaw! These Thais, can’t even get that right.

Haven't followed the lengthy discussion about nationality of the deceased.

YES of course, he was an Austrian citizen (from German language sources).

And I thought it was just a bargirl joke that they can't distinct

I guess it may be young people commenting, but too many seem to think even 70 is old.  Someone dies at 70 and they justify it with comments that it was time to go.

82 is not young, but I know several 82 year olds riding motorbikes around Pattaya, driving, and traveling, meeting girls not a problem.

Anyway,  too bad he had to pass in this way without family near.  RIP sir.

Life expectancy is falling now. With all the shady business with covid, there are more and more ppl dying in their 50-60's.

Gerard Wohlmuth

Thais often read the name from a passport the wrong way around.

Liverpool Lou will probably be on here soon to tell you that I am wrong about this also.

RIP

Gerard from Austria.
