Popular Post Social Media Posted September 8, 2023 Popular Post Posted September 8, 2023 Former Trump aide Peter Navarro has been convicted of contempt of Congress for refusing to co-operate with an inquiry into efforts to overturn the 2020 election result. Prosecutors said Navarro acted "above the law" by ignoring a subpoena from a congressional investigation. He faces up to a year in prison for each of the two contempt counts. Another key Trump ally, former strategist Steve Bannon, was convicted last year of contempt of Congress. Outside the court in Washington DC on Thursday, Navarro said it was a "sad day for America", vowing to appeal all the way to the Supreme Court. "This is the first time in the history of our republic," he said, "that a senior White House adviser, an alter ego of the president, has ever been charged with this alleged crime." He argued that the Department of Justice had had a policy for more than 50 years that senior White House advisers could not be compelled to testify before Congress. "Yet they brought the case," Navarro said. He was found guilty by the 12-member jury after four hours of deliberations, following a trial that lasted two days. As well as an appeal, Navarro's lawyers are motioning for a mistrial, alleging that jurors went outside court during their deliberations and encountered protesters. Navarro, who served as senior trade adviser to former President Donald Trump, was served with a subpoena by a US House of Representatives select committee in February 2022. But he did not hand over any of the requested emails or documents or appear to testify before the Democratic-led panel. FULL STORY 2 1
Popular Post thaibeachlovers Posted September 8, 2023 Popular Post Posted September 8, 2023 I saw that on Al Jazeera. He wasn't convicted because he refused to testify, but because he ignored the summons to go before the committee. He could have refused to answer their questions, and not be convicted, but he should have turned up. Apparently he made a mistake and will pay for that. When Trump wins he'll surely be pardoned. Anyway, he's probably going to appeal it up to the supreme court, so may not spend any time in jail. 1 1 5

Back in 2015 I turned down a rather large bet at the last minute because it didn’t feel right to take so much money off a fool. This idiot thought Trump would beat Hillary in the presidential election. It was the best free lesson I’ve ever had. Trump won’t win in 2024, but I won’t be putting any money on it. 1 1

I didn't want Trump to run again because I thought he'd lose for sure and give the election to joe, but as the torrent of court cases just make Trump more popular, and donations are increasing, I think he might just do it. I hope he does, as I did so enjoy the U Tube VDOs of the snowflakes crying after she lost. 1 1

bendejo Posted September 10, 2023 Posted September 10, 2023 This Navarro guy is trying to "karen" his way out of this, demanding to speak to yet another manager. All on the principle of the thing, of course. What these dummies lose track of is that asking for a pardon is an admission of guilt: if you didn't do anything wrong there would be nothing to pardon, right? 1 1

Sooooo, if he was such an awful failure, why does he live in the head of so many that just can't move on and elect someone better than joe? Given that it looks like it'll be joe/ kamala again for the Dems, does that not indicate that something has gone so very very wrong in American politics? Where are all the new young Kennedys to lead us into a brighter future? With joe, how can it be more than the same tired politics for the next 4 years? 1

At my age that is a rhetorical question, but I'm not confused enough to think joe would make a decent president for the next 4 years, and he's older than I. Comes an age when we are forced to accept we ain't the person we used to be, and IMO anyone over 70 should not be allowed to be a leader of anything, and certainly not of the free world. PS. That includes Trump. 1

Hey, I've got some news for you. Donald Trump is far in the lead to be the next Republican candidate for the office of the Presidency? And all you can do is repeat that same foolish cliche about Trump living in the head of his opponents? How unknowledgeable does someone have to be to repeat that nonsense? The answer is simple: extremely. 1 2

Another four years of Joe would be very “Weekend at Bernie’s” - the fact that it’s a possibility just reiterates how goddamn awful (and insane) Trump was.

Does the Biden administration have a record of major legislative accomplishments or not? What makes you think that if he wins and has a majority in the House and Senate there won't be more major accomplishments? 3
