Spot on.

I voted with my feet a long time ago.

The USA that I grew up in no longer exists.

There is nothing to go back to.

When I went back home last year, after not for 5 years, it sure felt like home to me. The area around San Antonio was a bit more developed, but I was surely home. Everything that was there when I left was still there, and it felt normal to me. This has never felt like home, although it has been for 5 years.

I would certainly put it up there in the top 20. As a place to live. And they are not taking into account the women, combined with a very agreeable standard of living. That would push it into the top

As this poll has China in 20th place, I really cannot take this seriously - never heard if people 'wanting' to move to china

Thailand is hot year round. Some people never leave the comfort of their homes except to go to the store, in an air conditioned car. It isn't the heat that's so bad, although with the humidity, it is, because back where I'm from in Texas it's actually hotter on average than here. It gets cold in Texas, and snows sometimes, and it has seasons, which Thailand doesn't. The rainy season here is a disaster in itself. Dirt roads, one of which I drive on to get to the main road, is like driving in oatmeal during the rainy season, and like driving in dust the rest of the year. Rain is constant, so you can't do much of anything outside. It brings bugs, which is another major problem. I thought Texas was bad, but it doesn't compare to the stinging and biting insects here, especially scorpions, ants and centipedes. I see snakes almost every other day, and some of these are among the worst on earth, so I'm always worried about my 6 year old walking around. People complain about the dogs, and they are a problem, even though I like dogs, I've never seen so many loose ones in my life, and it makes driving a hazard daily. I never hit a dog in 45 years of driving all over the US, but have hit three here. I saw all run off, but not sure what happened afterward. Malaria isn't bad here but Dengue is. I fear for my daughter more than myself, but don't want it either. I don't see the "mafia" where I live, but knew about the human trafficking that goes on here for many years, and it's a major reason I won't allow my daughter to stay too much longer here. It is cheaper to live here though.

Learn to comprehend. Don't assume I can't use something you can use, although your replies are usually a line or two of nonsense.

"The report highlights Thailand’s low rates of poverty"

How low a bar do they consider living in poverty ????

Try Africa some some comparisons. How many people in Thailand require food aid?

TH ... how many generations living in same house, sharing transport ?

Unskilled single person, trying to live on their own is near impossible, while trying to save money to better themselves.

Not a whole lot different from myself, as first apartment, was shared with a friend, and first house I bought, even had a boarder to free up some funds for investing in my future.  That crawl before you walk thingy, before being independent.

I can see why the Thais don't like you.

Actually they do, because, unlike you, I treat others well, and they can spot fake easily. And how you come to that conclusion is beyond normal thinking, because I've never said anyone doesn't like me, but that my ex did things a normal woman doesn't. Many expats can relate to that. Many Thais don't like any foreigners, and it's because of that fake superiority that you show. You do understand that you are one of a few here that assume about others, that they know them, how they are beyond this forum, how smart they are, or how well they understand a particular subject. How you act here just might be how you are, and that's sad, because it isn't the best attitude if you want friends.
