Popular Post webfact
In light of a recent incident where a police officer was shot and killed in Nakhon Pathom, Deputy Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has directed all provincial governors to blacklist influential individuals to prevent their rise as mafias. The tragic event took place in the residence of a well-known local leader in Nakhon Pathom, reported Thai Rath. Subsequent investigations revealed that the house belonged to "Kamnan Nok" and the perpetrator was identified as "Nong Tha Pha", a close associate, now under custody. On September 8th, at the Centara Grand at Central Plaza Lad Prao, during a provincial governors' meet-up, Anutin spoke about the issue. He emphasized that such events should not occur, and solutions must be sought to ensure public peace and safety. "As a governor and guardian of the city, we won't let such incidents happen again. We need to scrutinize how these individuals become local leaders and check their histories and behaviors. Anyone wielding such influence shouldn't lead the locals," Anutin remarked. bamnutsak
For one single drunken disagreement, resulting in two deaths, about a police promotion for a cousin this one seems to have a lot more to it based on the responses by various individuals, including Anutin. He may be hoping to keep a lid on a potentially broader scheme involving provincial police "management styles"? As Minster of the Interior he appoints provincial governors. Strange that, for a so called democracy, the people to not get to elect provincial governors. The belief is that the people can not be trusted to select leaders, and that only the wise men in Bangkok can do this.

TallGuyJohninBKK
I always thought Anutin was an "influential figure." And he certainly long seems to have thought so!

Begs the observation does he mean the rise of mafias or influential individuals as opposition. One mans rebel is another mans freedom fighter or something like that, I forget who coined the phrase.
