Popular Post snoop1130 Posted September 11, 2023 Popular Post Posted September 11, 2023 Move Forward party-list MP Chaiwat Sathawornwichit has claimed that the government has over-estimated the benefits of the “digital wallet” scheme in boosting the economy, as the timing is not right for its implementation. During his speech in parliament today (Monday), he said populist schemes, such as the digital wallet, should be implemented at a time when the economy is contracting, not when it is expanding, as it is now in Thailand, although the expansion is minimal. Like the application of an electric shock to a patient having a heart attack, Chaiwat said that the government’s plan to use the digital wallet to kick-start the economy is like applying an electric shock to a healthy person, the result may be fatal. Popular Post ikke1959 Posted September 11, 2023 Popular Post Posted September 11, 2023 They want to do it too quickly, without proper investigation.. Spending in 4 km radius is not working, How about people who don't have smartphones, or elderly people, handicapped people who aren't mobile?? How about people with high debts which assets are confiscated?? and many more problems.. Find solutions first and than roll out. I think 20 vouchers of 500 THB printed with the id number on it which could be used all ove rThailand would work much better 2 2

You just perfectly described how to keep an election promise, which at the end of the day will cost only a fraction of the estimates, because most of the beneficiaries will never be able to fully benefit of it. 4 1 1

Spot on. In rural areas like mine many, many people live more than 4 kms from any major stores. As usual the scheme seems targeted to Bangkok residents who will have no trouble spe=ding their loot. 1

If anyone thinks the money would still be there if they wait for the next 'contraction' they are severely deluded ! 1 1

damian Posted September 12, 2023 Posted September 12, 2023 I wonder what the Chearavanont family members will spend their 10k on? 1
Sydebolle Posted September 12, 2023 Posted September 12, 2023 The rice-buying-scheme and many other populist farts spring to mind. I - for one - assume though, that the budget, reading +/- 560 billion Thai Baht, will be used up in the end. How much of this enormous amount reaches the anticipated beneficiary in the sticks of Isan, is yet to be seen. But a substantial part of that digital cash will suffer, what is known in electricity, "line loss". What is produced in the power station is one thing; what reaches the end consumer is - for sure - a (minimized) other thing - Nuff said! 1 1
