Popular Post snoop1130 Posted September 12, 2023 Popular Post Posted September 12, 2023 Thailand’s foreign policy, from the perspective of the Move Forward party, should see the country acting as a “middle power” with principles and dignity, adhering to a rules-based international order and able to speak out freely, without fear of superpowers. Presenting a lecture to students of the Faculty of Political Science at Chulalongkorn University on “Thailand’s Challenges and Opportunities vis-vis ASEAN and the Super Powers”, Pita said that Thailand’s role in ASEAN, and ASEAN’s role as a regional grouping, has declined over the past five years, citing the fact that many world leaders chose to visit Vietnam and Indonesia, instead of Thailand, and some world leaders did not attend the ASEAN Summit, but assigned their deputies to do so. If the Move Forward party were in government, Pita said that Thailand would open a humanitarian economic corridor at the Thai-Myanmar border, to provide shelter to Myanmar people displaced by the war in their country and allow them to work legally on Thai soil. edwinchester Posted September 12, 2023 Posted September 12, 2023 What?! Nothing about Thai being a Lingua Franca? That won't go down at all well with the rabid nationalists. 1
mfd101 Posted September 12, 2023 Posted September 12, 2023 In terms of its capacity to project power or to influence anything at all beyond its own borders, Thailand could scarcely be described as a 'middle power'. Small, incompetent and inward-looking would be more accurate. But nothing is achieved without optimism and aspiration.
sammieuk1 Posted September 12, 2023 Posted September 12, 2023 If the Move Forward party were in government ..like what was voted for the land wouldn't be such a corrupted political cesspit he means ???? 2

soalbundy Posted September 13, 2023 Posted September 13, 2023 We all have our ambitions.......some more realistic than others.
JCauto Posted September 13, 2023 Posted September 13, 2023 That's it! Disqualify him from future elections. For...I dunno, find something.
herfiehandbag Posted September 13, 2023 Posted September 13, 2023 Quite an ambition, but one worth aspiring to. If you come to power ( and I hope you do) then you will have to thoroughly "clean house" to be in a position to present that. That of course is also an ambition you aspire to.
