The victim, 26 year old Nattarika, sought help from the non-profit organisation Saimai Survive after the physical altercation at the hotel on Soi Rungsit-Nakhon Nayok 20 in Thanya Buri district of Pathum Thani province. Nattarika recounted that her home was near the hotel but she decided to temporarily reside there due to a family dispute. Nattarika disclosed that she initially booked the hotel room for one night on Wednesday, September 20 and did not pay the fee before her stay. Gottfrid Posted September 26, 2023 Posted September 26, 2023 No, you do not encounter an obstacle regarding paying something just because your phone is broken. There are ATM´s and banks to take out money from, and no need to scan. On the other hand, the hotel management have no right to use violent force causing bodily harm. They are only allowed to report the incident to the police and if already have, keep the guests identification. 1 1

Yes, its a good story. . A 'Party Entertainer' missed the first days upfront payment, then wanted to stay a second without paying upfront. Couldn't pay for the first night as her phone was broken and who's phone miraculously started working again at 7pm after they were kicked out. Totally Kosher.. 1

Except when you don't have enough cash for an unexpected expense. Back to OP, whatever her reasons for not paying on the spot, the hotel worker was completely out of place. He's only an employee, he has her ID details from check-in, just report her. 1

She doesn't need a phone to use cash. Always. And I was recently behind someone in Villa trying to pay via his phone. He tried, the cashier tried, wasting five minutes before he paid by cash instead. That worked instantly, as it has done for hundreds of years. And it's far from the first time I've seen that happen. 1

There was a recent e-payment thread just for the boomers complaining about other boomers who can't adapt... E-payment is simple... Now, back to topic.... If this woman's phone was broken and she couldn't pay, its because she didn't have her purse with her.... (in her purse would have been a Bank Card and perhaps some cash). So... 'Cash is king' - is a daft comment, cash is only useful if you have it with you. She didn't have her purse with her, thus didn't have any cash. IF she had a her purse with her, she'd have been able to pay with her bank card or go to the ATM. OR.. she had no money in her account and couldn't pay anyway, in which case... cash is still 'not' king... 2

I get held up by people buying something for 73 baht with a 1000 baht note and waiting for change, rather than flashing their screen at reader... (TrueWallet), or scanning a QR code and pressing 'accept'.... We can come up with anecdote all day about who has had what experiences. The difference is, your's are exaggerated boomerville !!! I don't get held up by people paying by phone - its a quick process. And now, its just tap and go with a debit or credit card which is even quicker.... The think I don't like about card payments is that every payment with a card is charge a percentage which devalues the value of the original payment - with cash, it maintains its value as it changes hands. 2 1 1

You made that up as there is no mention of her not having her purse with her. But okay. You pay your way and I'll continue to use the method that has worked perfectly for me every single time for the past 60+ years. If something isn't broke I don't try and fix it. 1 2
