MAJOR DAMS IN NORTHEASTERN provinces are releasing an increased volume of water daily to receive more excessive waters from above the dams and contain imminent flash floods in low-lying terrains of the entire Isaan region throughout this month, officials said Friday (Oct.6).

Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin was briefed on the latest flooding situation in a dozen northeastern provinces during the current monsoon season where excessive waters caused by torrential rains have overflown the rivers and wreaked havoc to villagers in low-lying areas.

The prime minister who today visited Ubon Ratchathani where flash floods have reportedly occurred every year told the authorities to take contingency measures to have the local villagers adversely affected the least possible and to alleviate the flooding situation as soon as possible.

The Northeast infrastructure in regards to roads is definitely lacking.

Are you suggesting we don't pave what little roads we have up here and revert to dirt roads?

The flooding is mainly to do with poor or no water management.  It always has been.
