Thai tourism hit as gun violence prompts Chinese visitor cancellations

There is so much misinformation being delivered to the media by TAT and the govt regarding tourism. Today I see that the govt is considering extending visas for Russians to 90 days while others have to go through a complicated process to just get a 30-day visa. Reintroduce the 40-day visa on arrivals for most other nationalities and watch the increase in tourism numbers grow. Importantly from countries whose nationals will spend money in the country and not take the jobs of Thais.

This is excellent news at least our beautiful beaches will remain cleaner then when these aholes come and throw all there trash into the oceans and onto the beaches as they don't care,, let's hope they never return there not worth the trouble they cause

Chiang Mai, a city that welcomes a considerable number of Chinese tourists, has seen five Chinese airlines, including Juneyao Airlines, Spring Airlines, China Eastern Airlines, Sichuan Airlines and Air China, establish routes to the province.

Last week we saw a minister being rolled out saying the impact of the Paragon shooting will not affect Tourism, this week they are saying it is affecting numbers. only Chinese of course.

China has changed to being once again an inward looking country. Public servants (even teachers) now need permission to leave the country and are being limited by time and destination. There is a strong push to reduce foreign interaction.

The article below gives some insight into the reasons but you have to wonder how pervasive this move will be.

The drop likely doesn't mean that those Chinese visitors will stop their travels. Just not to Thailand but for a sundry of factors. For example, it is much easier for Chinese group tourists to obtain a visa in Malaysia in 1-3 days for 200 yuan (about 1k THB).

So they are stating that 60,000 Chinese actually cancelled there trip to Thailand due to a couple of deaths by a 14 year old you couldn’t make this up but no worries now they’ve announced 90 day visa to the Ruskies the planes will be overloaded with draft dodgers
