I'm trying to make an appointment online to extend my retirement visa at CW office.

Accessing the system is OK but I can't progress beyond inserting my email address as I don't then receive a OTP.

Does anyone know if this is a short-term glitch, a regular occurence or a semi permanent problem?

Thanks in advance

Do you have a Thai sim card, or are you trying to receive text messages using an overseas sim? The latter is sometimes problematic. It goes without saying that you should very carefully check that your phone number was entered correctly.

For me, the OTP usually comes through via email within ~ 15 seconds.

It worked earlier today for me.

But not working now.

Must be some problem, why am I not surprised.

from this morning, I use gmail, arrives in Primary mailbox. (not in spam or promotions)

Thanks for getting back to me. I'm in Thailand and using a Thai Sim card OK. There is no option to show phone number only email address.  I'm already registered with Immigration with that email address as I've used it for 90 day reporting and getting appointments in the past.  I also reinstalled the App but again the same problem - enter email address ok, submit and wait for OTP. OTP never arrives

Does anyone know, or have experience, if you can access the appointment system from outside of Thailand? With or without using a VPN?

Good question. Hopefully someone has actually done it and will advise.

As an aside: I just checked extension retirement at CW.

Only one day available on Mar 17 and even then only two slots on that day.

Yeah, this is concerning.

At first, I thought that maybe the system was not working.

Nup.

I occasionally get asked to assist with a booking for extension.

The lack of slots sometimes only one or two a month ahead is concerning.

I've done it before.  But it can get confusing because the system tries to use your computer/phone date and time in showing you the available appointments.  So when I'm in the US it is showing me appointments for 8PM-5AM for example.

Is an online appointment for Chonburi/Jomtien Immigration available too?

The website for division 3 has been offline for a few weeks, so no way to make an appointment for Jomtien.

This is a consistent problem for retirement extensions, presumably for others as well. I see 6 IOs public-facing for hundreds of us every day.

Apparently, there is no suggestion box, not that they'd read/heed us anyway.

Q: If one goes w/o an appt to CW, does the queue close when a certain number of petitioners is reached??? That would be a wasted day, long trip, expensive.

Apparently, Immigration doesn't like Macs--or something. I made the mistake of using an unsupported browser (Safari), worked fine, got my OTP but got an error message when I used it. Tried Chrome, same deal. Arrggh!

A word of advice. Even if you've done this dozens of times, go to the "Document check" IO. Will save any delays or hassles.

Similarly, 90 day extension appts, sometimes needed in a bind, have one IO & few appts daily.

Jeez, these IOs are overworked! Let's face it, it's a mostly useless job. This is not where they catch any miscreants.

No. If you receive a queue ticket then you will be seen.

After lunch at some point they may stop issuing tickets.

I do everything on cell phone. No issue.

This is now required.

Do you mean 90 day reporting..

With appointment for 90 day reports at CW go to far right que lady and show appointment. She will via walkie-talkie check with io and you are seen next.

Righto. Hoping for a queue ticket!

Will try the cellphone route via app.

Yes, 90 day. The problem still is getting an appt.

Thanks, Doc.

When I have had to deal with CW without appointment, I use this model....

Arrive just prior to lunch break (12 noon) and obtain queue ticket.

Note you need application form filled in.

Use lunch break to attend to photocopying, banking etc

After lunch you do not need to get into the long line.

To the left side those with tickets are allowed entry first.

Thanks, Jack. Will try it. What a drag--rest of March & all April is full (I'm April 8 anyway).
