Legendary Gambling Den Raided in Don Mueang

In an unprecedented move, over 40 officers from the Don Mueang police station and the Division of Welfare Protection for Children and Women successfully raided a legendary gambling den, notoriously difficult to infiltrate, nestled in the heart of Soi Srongsap Prapra 1. Fifty-three individuals, including 30 men and 23 women, were apprehended, and various gambling paraphernalia was also seized. 

 

Questions arise as to why the Don Mueang District Office has not ordered the demolition of this longstanding illegal establishment. The complex network of entry points, all opened from the inside, has made law enforcement's task exceedingly difficult. Despite this, their entry this time is speculated to have been aided by an insider, reported Thai Rath.

 

Founder of the “Sai Mai Must Survive” page, Ekphop Luangprasert, underscores the urgency for the district office to scrutinize the legality of the structures and cages within the den.

 

He strongly believes that it's necessary to impose tough penalties and seize assets because modern gambling places are often used for money laundering.

 

The district office’s intervention is viewed as a crucial step, especially as the police have previously been thwarted in their attempts to penetrate the establishment.

 

The arrest and the investigation that follows should uncover many complex details about how this famous underground establishment operates. This, in turn, will hopefully lead to stricter enforcement and the dismantling of similar illegal operations in the future.
