Yeah this is Thailand, what could go wrong?😆.We were told in Oz when the casinos were legalised "NO way" could organised crime get in Australia. 😂How did that work out?[ Hint ,not so good]

They've been talking about this for a few years now, Thailand is not ready for casinos. Household debt is already at almost 100% of GDP, and this will only get worse if they allow casinos to operate. Thai people do not understand how to do things in moderation.

If this goes forward it will likely be the same cluster f@ck that the marijuana was....meaning not well thought out & everyone that supplies the brown envelops to the right offices gets to open mini C's everywhere 😂

 

Not to mention as others said household debt will go thru the roof when every somchai & his girl borrow from loan sharks to play 🙄

So you think with no Casinos, Aussieland or Thailand would remain squeeky clean🤣  ? 

 

Hint : I am not sure Man !!

 

With or without Casinos, the mafia or Organised Crime (to make it sound better), will always get in somehow. They probably control illegal imports and traficking  of Durian in Aussieland ?!

 

You probably meant money laundering,  that is usually facilatated with a Casino ??? , Yes, it is possible that a Casino can accelerate the process, but will it be a real game changer for washing the mob's Aussie £ ?

 

As said before, legal or not, the mafia, the mob  wil always find something, Legalise and at least the biggest top mafia (that is called government or the taxman ) will get their cut and perhaps at somepoint of the tax spending, it could help those in need ?

On first thought casinos sound like a great idea.  Many of us think how great Macau or Las Vegas seems but beneath the surface there a lot of issues.  I came back from S. Korea a month ago and they have casinos.  A large hotel casino complex close to Incheon Airport is called Paradise City.  Paradise City is an impressive complex.  After speaking to some Koreans I found out as a foreigner I can go to any casino in S Korea anytime and as often as I want.  But for a Korean citizen some casinos limit how many times they can enter on a monthly basis. I even found a casino near the Seoul Train station that only allows foreigners.  I had to show my passport to enter this particular casino.  We can guess why the South Korean Government limits casinos to it's citizens:  Gambling addiction can ruin lives.  I can just imagine what could happen if casinos pop up in LOS?

As most employment in Macau seems to come from the casinos and related businesses (restaurants etc.), I doubt they can afford to end gambling.

I think that is the right way forwards yes. They could do things like show proof of funds, say 5000 baht, before being allowed entry or something like that. Dress code also, try and keep it all above board somehow.
