We are killing ourselves via 'over-population'. Any scientist with a brain will tell you that there are not enough resources on the planet to sustain the current populations.

They have been saying that about Japan for decades and yet they are still doing just fine - currently third in the World.

The dangers of a declining population are no where near as bad as they say - otherwise Japan would be much worse that it is now.

Japan's population has been in decline since the 1980s - and yet they are doing just fine - 3rd largest economy in the world - a far more civilised and happy population - costs of living stabilising and no massive property price increases (overall) - readily available resources (medical etc.).

This article is very misleading. There may be a crisis but it does not appear to be a fertility crisis, it appears to be a desire amongst many to simply reproduce less. The quality of life is declining for many, the ability to earn money is difficult, and people are just simply coming to their senses and not having kids as much as they used to. It's a very, very difficult time to bring kids into this world, and there are a lot of level-headed people that are either deciding not to do it at all, or deciding to just go with one kid.

 

This is happening in many, many countries of the world, except in Africa, where the ancient ways continue. 21 of the 22 nations with the highest birth rates are there. Woe is Africa.

How about abolishing the IMF and accords such as the Treaty of Lisbon, which force States to borrow their money from private capital markets with interest, and use the billions thus saved to develop infrastructure and implement natalist policies?

In my opinion the single largest issue that the world faces is overpopulation, the quality of life is declining for every single person on earth as a result of it. A shrinking population is the single most wonderful thing that could possibly happen to this planet. So if the collective consciousness is of the opinion that overpopulation is a problem, that's completely correct. And besides, babies are over rated.

So what?  Myanmar folks will keep popping the young'uns out and in 60 years this will be ThaiMar.

Most people now reading this will be long dead.  For that matter, given the way things are going?  The only surface dwellers will be the Eloi.
