Today I had my Atto's 24 month/40,000Km checkup (actually I'm only at approx 19 months and a little over 39,000Km)....all free which Bt3,455 if I had to pay for it.   I also as "optional" maintenance had the A/C "evaporator" coil cleaned...the evap coil is the one in/under the dashboard and not the A/C condenser coil in front of the radiator....price for A/C evaporator cleaning was Bt1,701 out of my pocket. Expect the cost would be very, very similar for a Seal.

During the service checkup the BYD dealership uninstalled the inop Gbox and installed the replacement called GPack.   I have not played with Dpack yet.  Below are two snapshot showing GPack in its virgin state immediately after dealership install.   Once your press one of the Dpack icon it ask you to log into your Google acct (expect this a one time thing)...then you could install apps and use them. The BYD rep did mention you can play Youtube videos while driving.   That's all I know about DPack at this point in time....but it is now living in my Atto.

Screen showing GPack icon

Screen that appears after tapping above DPack icon.  I expect these are just suggested apps to install....give you an idea....load more as desired/required.

Anything to add on the gpack setup @Pib or is it comparable with gbox ?

Anything mention of a system update ?

Seeing talk about an update to enable the car to start when unlocking ( ala MG4 ? ) and a 4 digit code required before driving away ( both optional I think ) in the UK/Europe posts.

From what i can gather the code is a mandatory security step if auto start enabled, okay so makes driving away more time consuming than pressing start button but is a security step that has been requested by many.

Only seen on Seal groups as don’t follow the Atto groups anymore but don’t see any reason why it wouldn’t be implemented on Atto also, you seen anything ?

Of course it could be country dependent and not destined for Thailand anyway.

And yes i would feel like Jason Statham in the Transporter movies dialling a security code in before speeding off ….. i already have the JS haircut !!

No...I haven't got a chance to play with GPack....it's low on my list of things to do.

My local car wash collects and delivers all the cars in our development.

He drove my Seal off the road and tried to drag it back on when the concrete road was 15cm higher that the grass.

I had BYD check it and they said it was only cosmetic.  However there was a clunking at low speed.

They ordered and fitted new suspension on that side which fixed the problem.

The insurance claim was ฿42,000 of which I was asked to contribute ฿7200 as they considered the shock absorber a consumable and 50% worn.

BYD repairs are not cheap.

Preaching to the choir but "any" dealership repair, be it ICEV or EV, is not cheap based on their business model and repair policies.

Example: Toyota dealership repairs.

-  Around 18 months ago a "plastic nipple" on my 2009 Fortuner radiator broke off...this nipple was for the small pencil-sized hose around 25cm long that connects between the radiator and plastic coolant tank.   With this plastic nipple broke off flush with the radiator the radiator pressure couldn't build-up....would allow the coolant to boil at a lower temperature and of course lead a little coolant all the time.   I went to my Toyota dealership assuming they could do a quick, cheap repair by somehow repairing that broken plastic nipple.  But oh no, they wanted to charge almost Bt11,000 which includes a radiator replacement, radiator fluid, labor, etc.., and would take a whole day.   Basically, Toyota was saying they don't do such minor repairs...it's replace the end item/higher assembly which was the entire radiator in this case.  I even went to another Toyota dealership and was told the same thing.

So, I came home and used an old, modified tire air valve casing to make a new nipple.  I stripped off the valve rubber and removed the internal stem which just left a small metal tube of just the right size....match the old plastic nipple size.  Then used high temperature gasket RTV to secure the tube to the radiator.   I let the RTV dry overnight.  Next morning I have a new radiator nipple to attached the hose to....back in business....radiator now builds to normal pressure....zero leaks even as of yesterday (18 months later) when I happened to take a look inside the Fortuner engine bay.

Did that 100 minutes include download time?  And if it included download time were you on a mobile or Wifi connection?   Thanks.

Yes - 100 minutes includes download time. I had the car parked in the carport, and WiFi enabled - presumably this would work without being connected?

I think OTA will download without WiFi but possibly more slowly, having only done OTA’s on home WiFi but did see it uploading on cellular signal once ( red dot on the bell symbol notification before it moved to the car symbol) and appeared very slow, but that was the previous SIM.

IMG_6557.jpeg.83ace01cbb71448b7251c0163bf5c20f.jpeg

My current situation is True cellular signal is down, car and phones, only found out when leaving the house around 10.30 am and the wife’s persistent prodding on the Spotify app alerted me !!

Now back home with WiFi but no cellular signal in car/phones or on the app and no sign of any OTA ( of course just might not be my turn yet ).

Suspect an OTA needs the SIM card active but would choose WiFi if that was the stronger of the two signals ??

Anyway, see what happens when the True cellular signal shows its face again.

……… and before you ask ……. no, I don’t have anything better to do !!

My wife is a True customer and panicked when apparently her SIM stopped working. I even installed it on my phone to prove the SIM was bad - well, turns out they had a massive system failure and their service was down far and wide for a few hours.

Yes , went down at 9.24 am according to my app.

Seems like it came back recently but my BYD app is still offline.

Tried a couple of resets on the main screen as instructed by clicking on the no signal emoji

But, still no joy 🥹

App still not working for me....app not connecting to car (my Atto) as of 22 May 7:52pm.   I did all the usual stuff of rebooting the infotainment system a couple of times like recommended by the app, restarting the phone, etc.   Nothing has helped so far.     My app says the last time it talked to the car was 22 May at 05:01.

I'm getting a True SIM connection....I expect the BYD servers that talk to the app/cars are down vs it being a True issue.

Seems you are saying it's "True" system failure vs a BYD app/server problem.  I'm getting a mobile connection 4G/3G connection on the infotainment system...everything appears the SIM is talking to the mobile network, but the BYD app and BYD servers are not talking to each other.

Has your/the wife's BYD app starting talking to the car again now after the system failure you mentioned?

A 22 May 2025 Bangkok Post article on True system failure.  So, maybe it's still ongoing for some folks, some systems that interface like maybe the BYD app for those of us who have a True SIM in our BYD vehicle, etc.

True Corp sorry for mobile service outage

True Corp apologized on Thursday for a mobile phone and internet service outage that had a nationwide impact on some clients, and said it was preparing compensation for those affected.

“Various services, including voice and data, are now returning to full capacity across all areas nationwide,” it said in an updated announcement on Thursday afternoon.

“Affected users on the True network will receive an SMS notification with details about the compensation.”

Customers complained earlier about mobile and internet service disruptions that began on Thursday morning.

The Downdetector website reported a spike in reports from users starting around 10am. The reasons for the disruption are not yet known.

“Internet and phone calls were down as if there was not a SIM card,” one client said after the services resumed on his mobile phone.

“True apologises for the recent network incident that affected mobile usage for some True customers nationwide,” the company said.

It also said that subscribers to the dtac network, which was absorbed when the two companies merged in 2023, were not affected.

True said its executives were preparing to brief the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission about the incident, compensation and measures for preventing similar occurrences in the future.

Will add I also went into the detailed cellular settings in the infotainment system (Atto) to confirm the True SIM was connecting, forced it to disconnect from its True-H connection, and then allowed it to reconnect.  After this the BYD app still couldn't connect to the car.  This was as of 22 May 10pm.

If the True outage today and if its really still ongoing for some connections/locations in Thailand then maybe the BYD app will start working again by tomorrow/Friday/23 May. And maybe BYD needs to do something on their end to allow the car SIMs and BYD server to start talking together again after the True disruption is 100% fixed.

Time will tell.

Just did some more testing around 11pm/22 May..the SIM is making a basic connection per the 4G/3G icon and looking at the detailed cellular info but then the True servers are not connecting to the internet.  Most likely a True "DNS" servers problem.

It's kinda like when your home Wifi signal is connecting to your devices/phones/computers and your router is making a basic connection to your home internet provider but the router is not making a "valid/complete" connection to your provider "because that provider is having problems in connecting to the world wide web (internet)."

Yea, I think it's a True problem...probably DNS server related...they haven't completely fixed the major True outage that began this morning.
