Crime Pattaya Teen Gunman, 3 Others Arrested in Beach Shooting
Picture courtesy of Kaoded. Police have arrested four suspects, including a 16-year-old shooter, in connection with a shooting incident at Jomtien Beach. The shooting, which involved shots fired in the dead of night, miraculously did not harm the victims. Authorities acted swiftly to detain the group, recovering the firearm and ammunition used in the attack. Among those arrested are key members of the so-called “Arale Gang,” who reportedly used four motorcycles to carry out the attack. The 16-year-old gunman claimed the shooting was a result of a dispute following an earlier altercation in which his older brother was assaulted. According to one of the suspects’ guardians, the teenager had borrowed the gun from his father, who had inherited it from the boy’s late grandfather. The shooting incident marks the first time the youth has been involved in such violent activity. Police are currently pursuing four additional suspects believed to be involved in the violent events that unfolded after Mother’s Day, vowing to bring all responsible parties to justice. File photo for reference only The Anti-Corruption Organisation of Thailand (ACT) has delivered a damning assessment of the Paetongtarn Shinawatra administration. The ACT claims the government shows no clear direction or true commitment to combating corruption. ACT president Mana Nimitmongkol highlighted several shortcomings, expressing public distrust in government initiatives. Plans like the 10,000 baht digital cash handout and a massive economic stimulus are seen as mere political manoeuvres, according to Mr. Mana's Facebook post. The issue of widespread corruption has eroded public confidence. Despite the administration's goal to significantly boost its ranking in the Corruption Perceptions Index, Mr. Mana pointed out the absence of a solid anti-corruption strategy. Critics argue the disbanding of key institutions, such as the Anti-Corruption Operation Centre, weakens state mechanisms against corruption. The government's unconvincing crisis management approach was noted as a factor in this perception, with officials often tasked with identifying culprits rather than conducting transparent investigations. The Bangkok Post reported that recent events, like the collapse of the State Audit Office building during an earthquake, highlight these concerns. Legal reforms and changes to bureaucracy that were promised to address the fundamental causes of corruption remain unfulfilled, according to Mr. Mana. The ACT has warned of financial losses exceeding 100 billion baht if issues like neglected state projects aren't audited and addressed. Mr. Mana also criticised the administration for dismissing the recommendations made by the National Anti-Corruption Commission. The government's lack of effective response to issues like school milk fraud and highway bribes has demotivated bureaucrats. He called for the government to spearhead the anti-corruption fight by implementing transparent practices and prioritising it as a national agenda item. In a bid to drive this momentum, the ACT plans to host Anti-Corruption Day 2025 on September 6, encouraging public involvement in designing a more honest society. Netanyahu nurtured Hamas
Below are the words of Avigdor Liberman, the chair of the Yisrael Beytenu political party and a former defence minister in the Israeli government: Netanyahu is the one who nurtured Hamas as a counterbalance to the Palestinian Authority since 2009. He is the one who released Yahya Sinwar and 1,026 other terrorists. He is the one who prevented the conquest of Gaza in 2014 – a move that could have toppled Hamas, as he boasted in his book on Operation Protective Edge, contrary to my opinion. During my time as defence minister, time and again, Netanyahu prevented targeted assassinations of Hamas leaders. He is also the one who invented the "money for quiet" concept, which essentially became protection money. Through money transferred from Qatar, Hamas became a fortified and organized entity. Netanyahu declared this concept in a Cabinet meeting on November 13, 2018, under the title "Policy of Regulation," which he presented to the Cabinet. The following day, I resigned and warned with all my might about the danger posed by Hamas. October 7 gov't seeks to take control of IDF, not conquer Gaza nor overthrow Hamas Looks like Netanyahu was quite a buddy of Hamas before October 7. His motive? To promote Hamas at the expense of the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank. Netanyahu has always feared a Palestinian state so far better to promote division by promoting one faction against the other.
