Hiring Thai Staff

Featured Replies

I work for an NGO who is looking to hire several more local staff (various office and "outside" type jobs). In the past we have found that word of mouth or a posting on a thai job website has worked fairly well for most positions.

However; we now want to know if there are any employment agency/headhunting service or HR specialists that are based in Chiang Mai that can assist companies/organizations to find, screen and recruit staff. Does anyone know of such a company here that does this?

We are specifically trying to hire Thais, not foreigners.

Thanks

Afraid I have never found one, but advertising in Chiang Mai News (the newspaper) always brings in the best results locally.

Could you please post a phone or PM me? My Thai partner is currently seeking employment and has quite a bit of experience in many areas.

There is an employment agency on Bumrungraj Road just before the British Consulate. Although I have always found ads in the Chiang Mai Daily news more effective

many locals register themselves at the Labour Department (where you get your work permit done) at the Government Center in Mae Rim. Its worth checking that place out.

I have always had great success recruiting employees straight out of Uni - both here and when i worked in BKK - for lower level positions of course. But if you take the time to recruit and select properly, you can find some real gems. They tend to be enthusiastic and most importantly, they are clean slates and haven't been "tainted" or picked up bad habits by working with other companies that might have slack procedures and operations. If you take the time to train, you can mold a pretty impressive and cost effective team.

In Chiang Mai i have found jobnorththailand.com and cmprice.com to be handy (and free) places to post jobs that attract applications from graduating student.

My experience with Recruitment agencies (again, in BKK though) is that they are over-priced as they rarely find you anyone you couldn't have found and interviewed yourself.
