Popular Post webfact
PRIME MINISTER SRETTHA Thavisin was today (Nov.22) taken to task for allegedly looking to abuse his power only to promote certain police officers in nepotistic fashion. Move Forward MPs today produced messages allegedly posted on social media citing the prime minister as talking with Pheu Thai MPs during yesterday’s partisan meeting about informal requests which they had earlier made for him to promote a number of police officers as superintendents to be based at police stations in their respective constituencies. The Move Forward MPs commented that such an alleged act on the part of the Pheu Thai-backed prime minister was ultimately tantamount to a breach of the constitution and the politicians’ ethics. “I am confident that there are more of you in this room to be disappointed than to be pleased with the newly-named superintendents whom you requested for promotion. There were too many requests. Anyway, several of you would be pleased,” Srettha was quoted as allegedly saying to the Pheu Thai MPs. Popular Post Classic Ray
Why are any politicians involved in the promotion process for any police officer? The police should be independent of any political control and promotion should be governed by merit managed within the hierarchy and HR dept. Anything else makes the process corrupt. 3 1

Laws are made by politicians not police. Any non enforcement has to be agreed to by the lawmakers. i.e. the politicians who made the law decide not the police. Otherwise we live in a police state where the people (represented by the politicians) have no say

'the people (represented by the politicians) have no say' - I would say this effectively sums up the present Government.
