The Thai PM returns to Phuket tomorrow to oversee a number of safety exercises and simulated rescues in the name of tourism safety.

Srettha Thavisin will leave Bangkok at around 1.15pm tomorrow, flying to Phuket. From the airport, he will travel to Patong to oversee “emergency response” drills, starting with the rescue of “victims of a marine disaster”.

According to a Phuket News report, the PM will witness a demonstration of lifeguards “rescuing” a tourist caught in a rip current, followed by police officers dealing with a “drunken tourist” on Bangla Road.

  • Time must be weighing heavily on Srettha's hands if he can waste a full day on this sort of low-level nonsense. That's what happens when you outsource all the important decisions to someone living in

  • The idiocy of this apparently great nation and those who run it, knows no bounds. 😂😂😂😂😂

  • You really couldn't make this up.

Not visiting Phuket Immigration to see how suspected foreign criminals are handled?

Amazing Thailand ridiculous. TIT.

So he has NOTHING better to do???:cheesy:

Old picture used:).

It always amazes me how these political trips always coincide with the start of a weekend, so that after the hard business of looking at someone putting on a performance, the politicians are already in a place they can enjoy a relaxing weekend, having already travelled by official transport during work time so there is no delay to the R and R period.

No need for a simulation of the drunken tourist on Bangla, quite likely the real thing will be available

Sounds like just a weekend trip away for a swim and a night out in Bangla.

Yes the concerned PM should swing by Immigration and see how many long stay visas were  'purchased' since October 2022.......

This will, of course, be by airport taxi so that he can experience the renowned 'no-meter' experience culminating in the threat of physical violence for refusing to pay an outrageous fare and experience rescue by one of Phukets finest.

yes of course - they missed the demonstration of officials stepping in to prevent tourists being overcharged.

Jeez they must be desperate if the PM is going to these lengths for some publicity...

If he's got so much concern for peoples welfare will he pop-in to see how Thaksin is doing on his return to Bangkok ?

Yet Thailand perpetuates it daily.

Maybe drop in on some Thai language classes and help all the Russians in attendance with their Thai.

Sound's like just another "Jolly" to me.

Imagine having to watch a drunk being arrested before you can get stuck into the freebies.

This guy is a waste of time but I suppose he's got to appear to be doing something while his boss is indisposed.

Good chance attendance is low...........

Still waiting to hear what happened to the drunk Russian lady who killed those two young kids>

The real concern is that you will have an idiot falang willing to be the actor in the "drunken falang mockery" for some bizarre reason of feeling important or whatever.

Does the PM not know the meaning of delegating there are far more pressing issues to be taken care of than having a day out in Phuket is it that important that he feels there is no one in his party or the other parties that made up the coalition that is capable of carrying out the task . I bet he has got a clue nor qualifications to carry out health and safety exercises !

Looks like a scene from out of the serious The Sopranos. Ha!

I'm sure an overseas junket to a twin town would be in order to see how other towns do things.

Why does he dress like a Hobo.  Does he think he is cool?
