In the province of Udon Thani, local residents express growing unease as an individual deemed mentally unstable roams the markets brandishing knives and sticks, demanding money aggressively and resorting to verbal abuse if the amount falls short.

The situation has left traders and shoppers on edge, uncertain of when or where the next unsettling encounter may occur, reported Siam Rath.

Today (November 30, 2023), a Facebook user named Nam Phoenphit Kaeowilaiwong shared images and a plea for assistance in a local group.

The post highlighted the disturbing behavior of the individual who, armed with either sticks or metal pieces, instills fear among those approached for money. Concerned citizens are now seeking intervention from local authorities to address the escalating situation.

Nus Nong, a 22-year-old market vendor in the vicinity, recounted her own encounters with the individual who, if denied money, would glare menacingly, resort to verbal threats, and even carry weapons.

The persistent nature of these incidents has left the community feeling unsafe, impacting businesses and discouraging customers from frequenting the area.

The concerned Facebook post has garnered significant attention, reflecting the shared worries of the community regarding this distressed individual's presence. As citizens grapple with the dilemma of whether to provide money or risk potential harm, the need for a coordinated response from relevant authorities becomes increasingly urgent.
