Yes,VN1. The discussion followed a comment of "an international airport with no international flights" which was easily seen as incorrect.

Okay for nerds like you, I should correct my statement - "an international airport with no regular international flights". Now you happy?

Strange that this flight flew yesterday from UTH-HAN just as I posted.  Did flightradar make it up too?

It was not a regular scheduled flight.
please provide proof of regular scheduled flights or admit that you are wrong.

proof of a special flight is not proof that there are regular scheduled flights.

Any airport can have a special international flight but that doesn’t qualify.

Maybe similar to Khon Kaen. Also labelled as international.

At the old building

it had two desks for immigration and one luggage belt was fenced off in case there was an international flight.

Rather unlike Khon Kaen,  as I have taken an international flight from there to Japan a few times, clearing immigration in Khon Kaen and being escorted from the domestic terminal in DMK to the airside international departures. On the return flight I cleared immigration in DMK but my luggage went directly to Khon Kaen where I cleared customs. So Khon Kaen had international flythrough flights before COVID shut everything down. They may well have restarted.

The international luggage belt received international luggage from an otherwise domestic flight.

In the past there were some flights to China.

Don't know whether something is prepared at the new terminal

Yes indeed. Living near Khon Kaen pre-pandemic, I used Air Asia's "Fly Thru" service on many flights to Burma, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam (one ticket from KKC to destination, and return). Passport and Immigration Control was completed in the International Departure Lounge at KKC (only for Air Asia passengers at that time). I always had to change aircraft at Don Meuang where an Air Asia hostess accompanied onward travel passengers straight through to DMK International Departures - technically I was in transit as I had left Thailand when I departed from KKC. No further involvement with Thai Immigration - already completed back in Khon Kaen. At the end of a return "Fly Thru" flight back in KKC, my baggage was put on an "international arrivals" belt and was often the only piece! There was also an x-ray machine and a waiting Customs Officer, again often just for me. I am certain this arrangement was present at Udon Thani Airport for Air Asia's Fly Thru passengers. What the current situation is at Khon Kaen I have no idea but I can still "Fly Thru" with Air Asia from Siem Reap (SAI) to Khon Kaen (KKC) via DMK, with Thai Immigration having a seperate desk solely for "Fly Thru" passengers avoiding the main hall in DMK. An efficient time saving service. For reference, baggage in the hold also Fly's Thru, you collect from the belt on arrival at destination. At DMK baggage is transferred between flights by Air Asia ground staff.

Don't need to make him admit that he is wrong. Technically, he may be right, as my initial statement didn't include the "regular scheduled" part. If that makes him feel good about himself, let it be.

That is probably incorrect. Since I live rather closer to Udon Thani than KK and have my wife’s relatives there I tried over the last 30 years to book Fly Thru I could never select UTH as a destination or departure point, only ever KKC.

@treetops quoted my post referencing the

Quote

The claim of a UTH -> HAN scheduled direct flight is wrong for December

With a non scheduled flight that was, a diplomatic, military or charter flight but as I posted “a scheduled direct flight being wrong for December.

Udon Thani airport has daily international flights.

It is a shame that people who have no real knowledge post on forums.
