VisitChiangMai2023
Greetings, living uphill Chiang Mai, i would like to replace an existing PVC water pipe running through the forest from our water source with a metal one (galvanised steel e.g.) The PVC pipe tends to break quite easily or it gets chewed by moles and mice or the forest fires damage it. Total length may be around 150-200 metres. Does anyone have any recommendations on brand, quality and where to get the pipes? Online-orders or somewhere in the area of Chiang Mai would be great! Thank you!
Artisi
Must be a dozen or more suppliers in CM who sell steel water pipes.
UWEB
Galvanized Pipes are worst case scenario except you are using bigger Steel Pipes in the underground to protect your PVC Pipes.
Popular Post Rampant Rabbit
Get a Makro..........bury it deeper, use hdpe pipe with no joints in, 1 metre deep, also useful for burying lazy workers. 9 years ago no problems, that galvanized stuff is crap, but if you really wanted pour concrete over it ( the hdpe) Edited December 2, 2023 by Rampant Rabbit 1
TroubleandGrumpy
Go look in the nearest Thaiwatsadu store. They are the best priced hadware store chain in Thailand for most things. Dig deep and dig once 1

VocalNeal
Backhoe is what North Americans call a JCB somehow it has slipped into Thai. I suppose in the same way that some Melanesians speak pidgin

I suppose in the same way that some Melanesians speak pidgin Backhoe may well be a common American term, it is more accurate than most. Macro is the common Thai Term” it is not the correct technical name A JCB is a company “Joseph Cyril Bamford Excavators Ltd” a British multinational it is not the correct technical name for the machine it has become the common name based on the colour “yellow” of the machine and the ubiquity of the company products. There is no general specific name for the bucket digger known by the names Backhoe, Macro, and JCB though Backhoe has the most claim to be correct. The reason for the name backhoe comes from the fact that it started as the attachment for a tractor unit or purpose built machine called a backhoe loader before becoming an independent machine Edited December 3, 2023 by sometimewoodworker 1

It is the way a Thai would say it. Though since it is a transliteration the English spelling of the sound is an approximation, other spellings are available, and other Thai pronunciations are possible.
