I'm afraid this was never about good sense and reason. A deadly virus of questionable orgin wreaked havoc round the world. The grief and loss at all levels is astounding and so very sad. I know of someone who passed from the virus and someone else who passed from the jab. Where were flight bans when we needed them? Why were small businesses gutted? Gov'ts pounced on it as leverage to hasten their social engineering agendas - particularly in the West. Most folk will never smell the coffee.

Had Trump instituted a flight ban on anyone coming from China within days of the first infections being found, this whole thing might have developed in a completely different manner, yet his extreme denial left a lot of blood on his hands.

They have, in the UK.  started some sort of sham inquiry in to the governments covid response, I'm sure the results of which were decided and probably written long before it actually began.  Several prominent people are already denying they called for lockdowns and are being shown to be barefaced liars.      Sadly Its a foregone conclusion that we will never know the full truth.

The corona phobia is in full swing again; SCB in Nong Khai hands out masks to customers who want to enter their premises.

I refused as the mask as it showed traces of being reused more than once. Luckily I did not represent a risk to the staff, wearing double mask behind an acrylic glass panel. Latter ensured that it became impossible to even sign papers on the desk of the staff. 

Instructions from Bangkok - was the staff's comment which nobody really understood; all customers no mask and the entire staff force, forced to follow the leadership, overprotected to a ridiculous level ;-)

Yes, 100%. The media are largely the ones that were the catalyst for the entire fiasco, creating a mass delusion/hysteria. I pretty much equate it to a mental instability. People who were weak-minded, naive, or just not so bright in general seem to have gotten caught up in it. Then there were/are those who are bright enough, but have ulterior motives, e.g., politicians (although many of them aren't necessarily particularly bright, some are very much so). I recall reading a scientific paper published very early on, in which one of the authors was Dr. Fauci. In that paper, they essentially equated COVID to a very bad cold or the flu. It was nearly the exact same thing that President Trump said early on, which of course was advice he likely got from Fauci - exactly as in the scientific paper of which he was a co-author. Of course, the media's visceral hatred for Trump didn't fail, and they immediately jumped on that and attacked like a Rottweiler guard dog, trolled him, and pumped the narrative of how catastrophic COVID is, even harder than ever before. Of course they let their darling Fauci slide and he also started edging over to the Trump hatred crowd after at first being supportive of Trump. He went from COVID being like a bad flu and masks not being necessary to COVID being horrendously dangerous and needing double masks. And the media just kept pushing harder and harder for their narrative to be true. That whole political and media world is so full of evil, it is amazing to watch. I do agree with you that the governments were trying to do their best at first. But then the pressure produced by the insanity of the media became something that they couldn't deal with, otherwise they were too fearful of public opinion and the next election. Then, they started reveling in the power the people were allowing them to wield. Much like many of the police (not all by any means) who enforced the insanity and loved every minute of the power it gave them to destroy people. Of course the corrupt W.H.O., Centers for Disease Control, and others also played a part in tandem with the media and other ne'er-do-wellers, in particular, Bill Gates, etc.... and on it goes.... One can hope that at least some people learned something from it all. But just as how we see the ease at which people are swayed to vote for completely incompetent people, even to the highest offices of a country, I don't have a whole lot of confidence that people have learned much.... But I do hope.

Yes. That happened 4 or 5 times among my family members. Asymptomatic COVID is not unusual.

You can add to that this gem from the CDC. Don't get me wrong - I find the whole topic of Covid rather tedious these days, but it does amuse when folk cherry pick data.

 

The chart and stat doom merchant cited bits from this very same CDC study that implied vaccination was very effective in 'protecting' etc. I found the reality to be quite astonishing:

 

"Among adults aged ≥18 years without immunocompromising conditions, bivalent booster vaccine effectiveness (VE) against COVID-19–associated hospitalization declined from 62% at 7–59 days postvaccination to 24% at 120–179 days compared with VE among unvaccinated adults. Among immunocompromised adults, lower bivalent booster VE was observed."

So ... basically, for healthy adults, by 4 months post vaccination the average level of protection against hospitalisation is just 24% "better" than for someone unvaccinated of the same age.

 

It's a meaningless figure anyway because it lumps together everyone above the age of 18. People under the age of 50 are, as every study shows, in any case at lower risk of serious outcomes.

 

If a healthy 25 year old has a 1:5,000 or whatever risk of hospitalisation, a 24% increase to that risk is minimal.

 

And if you're immunocompromised, according to this CDC study vaccine effectiveness is even worse! 

 

In order to maintain a reasonable level of protection it implies the need for a vaccination every few months. That's madness, especially when there is still no clear understanding of what long-term repeated Covid vaccinations may do to the immune system.

 

It's astonishing how quickly people can normalise behaviours they would have laughed at previously. Of course in Thailand peer pressure and fear of being seen as 'not a good person' plays a big part in the continued masking.
