BMA Checks Night Venues On The First Day Of Opening Till 4 A.M.

BANGKOK Metropolitan Administration (BMA) launched an inspection of night venues permitted to stay open till 4 a.m. from today (Dec. 15) onwards with 146 out of total 207 still operating in 33 of 50 metropolitan districts and Huay Kwang topping the list with the largest number, Naewna newspaper said.

 

Pol. Gen. Adis Ngamjitsuksri, adviser to Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt, heads the survey that is starting at Khao San road from 1.30 p.m.

 

BMA database shows that of 207 night venues in 33 districts that can now stay open till 4 a.m. 73 are in the Ratchada, RCA and Patpong zone with eight located in hotels and 134 outside this zone with 24 being within hotels.

 

However, the latest check shows of these 207 entertainment venues 146 are still operating, three are closed for renovation and 58 have permanently shut shop.

 

Huay Kwang has the most such night venues, with 33 of total 39 still operating but six closed; followed by Din Daeng with 31 and 14 still open while 17 now closed; Bang Rak with 21 and 20 open but one closed; Wattana with 21 and 16 open but five closed; plus Khlong Toei with 11 and nine open but two closed.

The article mentions stuff like fire escapes so I'm guessing it was a "preflight check".

 

No need for the venue to be operating for that kind of stuff.

Pol. Col. Suradet publicly revealed that the search operation was ordered by the Thai government policy and the Royal Thai Police’s Office. The orders were to strictly prevent and suppress the violations of carrying firearms and selling illicit substances.

Furthermore, Pol. Col. Suradet emphasized that visitors must carry their original ID cards while using entertainment venues. The police officers may ask to verify identification via applications such as Thai ID and DLT QR license.
