Chachoengsao – A mysterious young man met with an accident, and his body decomposed for three days on the expressway before locals discovered it. The body was found in a canal separating the dual lanes of the Bangna-Trat Highway.

Authorities from the Highway Police were alerted by a Superbike rider on December 20th, at 2:30 pm. Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim, believed to be a soldier from the Phramongkutklao Hospital, the accident probably occurred during the late-night hours three days prior, reported 77kaoded.

The incident occurred as the victim's vehicle veered off the main road towards the parallel route, only about 20 meters away from the main road, near Bang Samak, Bang Pakong, Chachoengsao. Dressed in a long-sleeved shirt of ash hue, denim trousers, a cap adorned with a cerulean water motif, and sneakers in a combination of white and red, the lifeless form reclined in a partially submerged state, frozen in the semblance of a riding stance.

On-site, remnants of the bike comprising the frontal glass and shield, materialized some four meters distant from the corporeal remains, immersed beneath the water's surface.Further inspection inside the submerged ditch revealed a medium-sized Yamaha motorcycle with blue-gray color, plate number 9กช-2957, Bangkok, severely damaged at the front end.

Inside the motorcycle's waist pouch, authorities found an ID card and a driving license belonging to Mr. Thanakarn Kongpak, 21 years old, from house number 147, Moo 4, Rangeng, Lat Lum Kaeo, Pathum Thani.

Additionally, a military ID card from the Phramongkutklao Hospital and a black shoulder-slung backpack containing two smartphones were found. Medical items, including flu medicine such as children's acetaminophen, were also discovered, prescribed by Bumrungrad Hospital. The investigating officers gathered these items as evidence for further examination.

Ok, as it stands racing on the bike, one must assume that was what the dead rider was doing.

Or nodded off and went for a last dip.

Obviously I have no idea where the guy lived in in relation to what direction he was traveling, but many try to and do cross these ditches ( I wouldn't call that a canal) to save going down the road to the next junction or U turn, I see that quite often, so that may have happened in this case.

A picture from the full story seem to show one of these home made crossings.
