Nonthaburi—On December 20th, 2023, Nonthaburi provincial immigration officers captured an Indian suspect who overstayed 2,366 days in Thailand and allegedly was involved in illegal loan shark activities in Mueang Nonthaburi, Nonthaburi.

According to a report by Royal Thai Immigration officers, their recent policy on solving illegal loan shark debt problems was issued by the Thai government and as a result the officers performed an investigation on an alleged loan shark in a Muenag Nonthaburi market who was publicly identified only as Mr. Kay, a 39-year-old Indian.

However, the immigration officers discovered that Kay had overstayed in Thailand for more than 6 years or 2,366 days and had a notebook listing several debt collections at Kay’s residence, said the immigration officers.

Strange that Immigration doesn't have a list of folks who are in overstay (entered, haven't left) and isn't out rounding them up. With or without a BMW.

At least work the "over five-year" list, it can't be more than a few thousand, right?

These multi-year over-stayers must be an embarrassment for the authorities.

Looking at the state of his apartment, he can´t be doing any great business.

He has denied being a loan shark and said the book was his friends, he looks more like a heavy, who threatens and beats people to get money back. Still a life time ban is needed, he came here at only 31yr old.

Are you sure they aren't? There seems to be an increasingly steady stream of " caught overstayer(s) in the reports here as immigration gets to grips with the possibilities of using databases to cross check entry and exit data.

What's the betting that loan-sharking was his 'business' back home?
